Kamala Harris Sat Nodding While Stacey Abrams Smeared the Entire American South as Authoritarian

Stacey Abrams refused to concede the 2018 Georgia governor's race for years and turned a loss into a national media tour about stolen elections.

Now she's back – with Kamala Harris sitting right next to her – and she just said something even worse.

And you need to know what Kamala Harris did when Stacey Abrams made these disgusting claims about the American South.

Abrams Called Your State Authoritarian – Kamala Nodded

Stacey Abrams told Kamala Harris on her "Assembly Required" podcast Thursday that the American South represents authoritarianism in the United States.

Not modern authoritarianism.

Not Trump-era authoritarianism.

Authoritarianism since 1776.

"What I tell people when they want to understand what authoritarianism can look like in the U.S., I say, 'Look South,'" Abrams told Harris. "We have lived under soft authoritarianism, I would say, since, oh, 1776."

Harris did not push back.

Harris did not challenge the premise.

Harris nodded.

Tens of millions of conservatives live in the American South – in Georgia, Tennessee, Louisiana, North Carolina, and Texas.

They built their communities, raised their families, and made this country what it is.

Abrams just told them, to their face, that their entire way of life for 250 years has been authoritarian.

And the woman who is actively thinking about running for president again in 2028 sat there nodding like it was the most reasonable thing she'd ever heard.

The Fake Voter ID Claim Nobody Fact-Checked

Abrams didn't stop there.

She told Harris the national debate over voter ID is entirely fake.

"We are having this false debate about voter ID," Abrams said, then pointed to Texas allowing gun licenses at the polls while barring student IDs.

NewsBusters managing editor Curtis Houck fired back: "The liberal, elitist media never fact-check these deranged assertions cloaked in historical references. If asking for an ID that must be scanned and recited to the poll worker is authoritarianism, then America stopped being a free country multiple lifetimes ago."

He's right – and the evidence is right next door to Georgia.

Virginia has had voter ID for over a decade.

Republicans have won there.

Democrats have won there.

Nobody got rounded up.

Nobody got suppressed.

The state kept holding elections and voters kept showing up.

Abrams is calling a basic accountability measure practiced by every functioning democracy on earth a tool of oppression – because she can't win when it's in place.

That's the tell.

It's not about access.

It's about accountability.

And Kamala Harris sat there and let her say all of it.

What the Nodding Actually Means

Stacey Abrams lost the Georgia governorship in 2018.

She refused to concede for years.

Then she ran again in 2022 and lost even more handily.

She has now decided against a third run.

So what does a two-time loser do when the voters of her own state have rejected her twice?

She calls them authoritarians.

She goes on a podcast with the woman who lost to Donald Trump in 2024 and they agree that the South just doesn't understand freedom.

Meanwhile, people are moving to Georgia from California and New York every single day, voting with their feet to live under this so-called authoritarianism.

Here's what should concern you: Kamala Harris is building her 2028 campaign right now, and she's building it on this foundation.

The nodding was not accidental.

She showed up, smiled, and let Abrams tell half the country it has been living under fascism since the founding.

That's the pitch.

That's the coalition.

That's the candidate.

Georgia already told her no – twice.
