The day after Joe Biden’s address to Congress, Kamala Harris tried launching a P.R. blitz to sell Biden’s plans.
It did not go well.
And Kamala Harris was turned into a blubbering mess by one question.
In an interview on Good Morning America, anchor George Stephanopoulos asked Harris to respond to South Carolina Senator Tim Scott’s response to Biden’s speech where Scott ripped the Left for promoting critical race theory and the false claim that America is a systemically racist nation.
Harris tried to play to the center while claiming America was neither a racist country and a historically racist nation at the same time.
“I believe that we need to come up, well first of all, no I don’t think America is a racist country,” Harris stammered. “But we also do have to speak truth about the history of racism in our country, and it’s existence today.”
Harris praised Biden for attacking America as a systemically racist nation, applauding Biden for “always having the ability and the courage, frankly, to speak the truth about it. He spoke what we know from the intelligence community, one of the greatest threats to our national security is domestic terrorism manifested by white supremacists.”
Harris then echoed Biden’s belief that America is a systemically racist nation – meaning that American institutions were designed to oppress black Americans and other minorities – but danced around using those words because she knows how deeply unpopular that position is.
“And so these are issues that we must confront, and it does not help to heal our country, to unify us as a people, to ignore the realities of that,” Harris added. “And I think the President has been outstanding, and a real national leader on the issue of saying let’s confront the realities, and let’s deal with it, knowing we all have so much more in common than what separates us, and the idea is that we want to unify the country, but not without speaking truth and requiring accountability as appropriate.”
Harris wants to have her cake and eat it too.
She doesn’t want to explicitly say America is a racist nation, so instead she uses all the buzzwords of the critical race theory supporters to send the signal that she believes America is a systemically racist nation.
