She was asked how the White House can claim that it’s being transparent with the public after it hid the fact that stolen classified documents were found stuffed in the close of the Penn Biden Center for months.
“What should the public take away from the fact that you are keeping information like that from the public?” the reporter asked.
“I’m just not going to comment on anything that is related to what is currently happening,” Jean-Pierre replied. “This is a legal process. As you just mentioned, my colleague was right outside these doors answering many of your questions.”
The colleague Jean-Pierre referred to is Ian Sams, a spokesman for the White House Counsel’s office.
She proceeded to spend the rest of the press conference referring reporters to Sams for questions about the classified documents scandal.
“What is the current number of documents bearing classified markings that have been found in the President’s residence in the Senate offices?” a reporter asked.
“I would refer you to the White House Counsel’s office,” Jean-Pierre responded.
The runaround continued when Sams referred reporters who asked about the total number of classified documents to the Justice Department.
However, Sams told reporters that the White House has been “pretty transparent” with the public about the scandal.
“I think we’ve been pretty transparent from the very beginning with providing information as it occurs throughout this process,” Sams said.
Joe Biden pledged to preside over the most transparent White House in history.
Jean-Pierre is trying to ride out the scandal by avoiding questions, giving non-answers, and sending reporters somewhere else.
