House Speaker Kevin McCarthy warned Ilhan Omar that his day was coming.
But Omar still ended up blindsided.
And Kevin McCarthy just got this perfect piece of revenge on Ilhan Omar.
In 2021, Nancy Pelosi established the standard that the majority could kick minority-Party off their committees for any reason whatsoever.
Democrats booted Arizona Congressman Paul Gosar off his committee assignments after he tweeted out an anime video of his head superimposed on a character fighting Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
Before that happened, the minority Party determined which committees its members sat on.
After Pelosi and the Democrats pulled their powerplay, then-House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy told Democrats that if the GOP won back the majority in 2022, then Republicans would apply this same standard.
And that meant McCarthy promised to oust Eric Swalwell and Adam Schiff from the House Intelligence Committee and to vote Ilhan Omar off the Foreign Affairs Committee.
“Ilhan Omar should not be serving on Foreign Affairs,” McCarthy told Breitbart News before the last election. “This is a new level of what the Democrats have done.”
Ilhan Omar has faced no consequences for her rampant anti-Semitism.
Omar claimed Israel “hypnotized” government leaders and the world’s support for Israel was “all about the Benjamins,” meaning that Jewish money manipulated global affairs.
In a press conference after Speaker McCarthy restated his intention to remove Omar from the Foreign Affairs Committee, she whined that she had apologized and also made the preposterous claim that her anti-Semitic remarks were not an example of bigotry worthy of committee removal.
“Policy differences alone have not and must not be the cause for eliminating someone from serving on a committee,” Omar began.
“I have addressed it. I have apologized. It’s been two and a half terms ago,” Omar stated.
“In modern American history the punishment of stripping a member of Congress of their committee assignments has been reserved for only the most egregious wrongdoings,” Omar continued, ranting that Congress only removed from committees “those convicted or indicted on corruption, those who have engaged in bribery, sexual misconduct, encouraged violence, or other grave charges.”
Omar never dropped her anti-Israel views.
Last year, she compared the United States and Israel to the Islamic terrorist groups Hamas and the Taliban.
Pelosi and the Democrats did not sanction Omar when they held the majority.
But the Republicans are going to hold her accountable now that they control the House.
