Liz Cheney was humiliated after what she just said on CNN

Never-Trump RINO Liz Cheney is not going away quietly.

Even though Cheney lost her Primary by nearly 40 points, she is still trying to position herself as having a voice on the future direction of the Republican Party.

And Liz Cheney was humiliated after what she just said on CNN.

New York Times reporter and CNN contributor Maggie Haberman is the queen of publishing stories where anonymous sources say Donald Trump said something he never ended up saying.

The latest example of this “resistance” boob bait came in Haberman’s new book where she claims, without citing any evidence, that Trump told her anonymous sources that he would refuse to leave the White House if he lost the election.

That obviously did not happen, as Trump left office on January 20, 2021, as the Constitution prescribed, and Joe Biden took power.

Even though this looked like another manufactured hoax from a notoriously anti-Trump reporter, Liz Cheney fell for it hook, line, and sinker.

In an interview with CNN, Cheney claimed the anecdote from Haberman’s book proved that Trump was a menace to the Republic.

“I obviously haven’t seen her book, but sometimes people will say, ‘Well, you know, what happened wasn’t that big a deal because if Mike Pence had rejected a slate of electors, the Supreme Court would have sorted it out. There are a lot of ways people sort of say this wasn’t as dangerous as it really was. And when you hear something like that, I think you have to recognize that we were in no man’s land and territory we’ve never been in before as a nation,” Cheney stated.

“When you think about, well, the Supreme Court would have sorted it out, you have to ask yourself, but who would have enforced the rulings of the court? And if you have a President who’s refusing to leave the White House or who’s saying he refuses to leave the White House, then anyone who sort of stands aside and says someone else will handle it is themselves putting the nation at risk. It is clear that when you were at the moment that we faced, everyone had to stand up and take responsibility. And I think that’s not surprising that those are the sentiments that he reportedly expressed. I think, again, it just affirms the reality of the danger,” Cheney concluded.

In reality, this episode proved why Cheney lost her Primary in resounding fashion.

GOP voters do not care if an elected Republican disagrees with Trump or even criticizes him on an issue here or there.

But what the Republican base will not countenance are elected officials who launch anti-Trump crusades and fall for every single anti-Trump narrative out there.

Liz Cheney sought to define her career by her opposition to Donald Trump.

Cheney succeeded in that regard.

But she only succeeded in ending her time in Congress and extinguishing any hope for a political future.
