The Justice Department filed a hiring discrimination lawsuit against SpaceX, Musk’s space exploration company, for not hiring refugees.
Biden singled Musk out last year when he told reporters last year that he was worthy of investigation.
SpaceX only hires American citizens and permanent residents because of federal export control laws that protect national security secrets.
The lawsuit is the latest weaponization of the Justice Department against a political opponent of the Biden regime.
Democrats are furious that Musk brought free speech back to Twitter and exposed the collusion between the social media platform’s former leadership to unlawfully censoring Americans.
Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) responded by announcing a new investigation in the Justice Department for its targeting of SpaceX.
He told Garland in a letter that SpaceX was following federal law by excluding refugees with its hiring practices.
Gaetz noted that most people see SpaceX founder Elon Musk as a “patriot” for keeping the company’s national security secrets from falling into the hands of foreigners.
“[The Justice Department’s Civil Rights division] filed a lawsuit against Space Exploration Technologies Corp., otherwise known as ‘SpaceX,’ for complying with federal law and, specifically, because of this conduct: ‘SpaceX hired only U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents, from September 2018 to September 2020,’” Gaetz wrote.
Garland is blatantly ignoring the country’s laws to drop the hammer on Musk ahead of the 2024 Election.
“The vast majority of Americans would see Elon Musk as a patriot seeking to pay higher wages and protect sensitive defense-contracting work from foreign theft,” Gaetz added. “And, in fact, you cite his company’s statements not as exonerating but rather as ‘facially discriminatory public statements.'”
The Justice Department cited a social media post from Musk where he explained that federal law requires SpaceX employees to have at least a green card because the company’s “rockets are considered advanced weapons technology.”
Gaetz cited a federal law that allows for companies to be exempt from citizenship status requirements in employment law to comply with regulations and federal contracts.
He said that flies in the face of the Justice Department’s claim that no law or regulation justifies SpaceX from not hiring refugees.
The Justice Department lawsuit is asking SpaceX to pay massive fines, hire refugees who were rejected, and give them back pay.
Musk slammed the lawsuit for being politically motivated on social media.
“SpaceX was told repeatedly that hiring anyone who was not a permanent resident of the United States would violate international arms trafficking law, which would be a criminal offense,” Musk said. “We couldn’t even hire Canadian citizens, despite Canada being part of NORAD! This is yet another case of weaponization of the DOJ for political purposes.”
