A sniper killed Charlie Kirk on a college campus ten days before Megyn Kelly got on a plane to speak at one.
Then a fax arrived threatening to kill her before she got there.
What the note said about what they planned to do to her should have stopped everything.
The Threat They Didn't Want Her to See
Kelly's longtime assistant Abby Emerson didn't want her boss reading the note.
It was already being "handled," Emerson said, before the Virginia Tech stop of the Turning Point USA tour in September 2025.
Kelly wasn't having it.
"Don't make me ask twice," she told Emerson – words she said she'd never used with her assistant before.

The note included descriptive details about their travel plans – the kind of operational knowledge that told staff someone had been paying attention.
"This is my shot I am going to take it … and kill that f—— hateful anti-trans b—–," read the threat.
Emerson called it "really nasty and very specific, which is scary, especially 10 days after Charlie's assassination."
Kelly made the call: they were going anyway.
What Tyler Robinson Started
On September 10, 2025, Tyler Robinson drove three hours from his home in southern Utah to Utah Valley University, climbed onto a rooftop, and shot Charlie Kirk in the neck with a bolt-action rifle while Kirk was speaking at an outdoor campus event.
Kirk was 31 years old.
Hours later, Robinson texted his transgender roommate Lance Twiggs: "I had enough of his hatred. Some hate can't be negotiated out."
Prosecutors filed documents calling the evidence of political motive "overwhelming" – Robinson targeted Kirk specifically for his public opposition to transgender ideology and same-sex marriage.
The accused killer is now facing the death penalty on aggravated murder charges.

That it worked.
The Pattern the Media Won't Name
Riley Gaines learned this lesson two years before Kirk was killed, when a mob stormed her Turning Point USA event at San Francisco State University, attacked her, and forced her to take refuge in a locked classroom for hours while campus police said they couldn't be seen as "antagonistic to the transgender community."
The media called it a "protest."
Now they're calling faxed assassination threats "a chilling incident."
A YouGov poll found one in four "very liberal" Americans believe political violence can be justified.
The Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression found that acceptance of violence to stop a campus speaker had more than tripled among conservative students in four years – a climate the left built, celebrated as "resistance," and now pretends to be horrified by.
The left built this.
They just don't want credit for it.
What the Left Actually Accomplished
Kelly went to Virginia Tech.
Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin was there too, and he told the crowd that the sniper's bullet had tried "to silence all of us but you see the exact opposite is happening."
Kelly admitted the first few minutes on stage were hard.
"The first couple of minutes on stage, I did feel exposed," she said.
She spoke anyway.

She told the crowd she'd opened her show the morning after Kirk's death with a promise: "It'll be many of us on the right who will not be silenced and who will make it our mission now to continue saying all the things that you thought you silenced with that bullet."
That's the answer to what Tyler Robinson started.
That's the answer to whoever sent that fax.
The Left thought a bullet would silence the right.
Instead, Turning Point sent conservative speakers to every remaining tour stop – Michael Knowles in Minnesota, Glenn Beck in North Dakota, Tucker Carlson, Kelly, and others – each one showing up specifically to make the opposite point.
You don't silence people who know what's at stake.
You harden them.
