Polls show Donald Trump has a 30-point lead in the GOP Presidential Primary.
Trump’s GOP rivals are searching for a way to stop Trump from running away with the nomination.
And Megyn Kelly revealed the one thing that could keep Donald Trump off the ballot in 2024.
No one can understand why GOP establishment also-rans like South Carolina Senator Tim Scott – who sided with Black Lives Matter and attacked the police after the death of George Floyd – Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson, and former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley are in this race.
All are polling in the low single digits as in the eyes of the voters they represent relics of the George Bush/Mitt Romney/John McCain Republican Party.
Tim Scott announced his candidacy on Monday with a speech straight out of 2005 that pretended Donald Trump or his Presidency never happened.
The Federalist Culture Editor Emily Jashinsky and Washington Free Beacon Editor-in-Chief Eliana Johnson appeared on Megyn Kelly’s podcast.
Kelly asked what candidates like Scott were thinking their strategy was to win the nomination with a backward looking message that sought to pull the GOP back to the days of Romney, McCain, Bush, and Paul Ryan.
Jashinsky speculated that all of these RINOs entered the race with the hope that some legal issue or scandal will cripple Donald Trump’s campaign and they can serve as the establishment candidate in the race.
“Maybe Donald Trump has to drop out for someone unforeseen reason, and then Tim Scott will be there waiting in the wings again. I’m skeptical of that. But that is their idea of where things could go,” Jashinsky stated.
Kelly then claimed the only reason Donald Trump would not appear on the ballot in 2024 was death.
Kelly noted that the election looks like it could be a contest between 81-year-old Joe Biden and 77-year-old Donald Trump and that old age and natural causes could lead to one or the other not making it to election day 2024.
“You know what’s crazy is if it winds up being Trump, Biden in the contest, forgive me, but they could both die,” Kelly declared. “Like, they’re old enough that one might not make it to the actual election day, never mind through a first term, or in Biden’s case a second. I mean, this is something we actually have to factor in when you have presidential candidates who are around 80 years old.”
These are grisly thoughts.
And if this is really the establishment’s plan to push their preferred candidate to the nomination it shows there is no real strategy to stop Trump.
