Mike Pence drew a line with Donald Trump that no one could believe

For four years Mike Pence was the loyal Vice President for Donald Trump.

But now that Pence is looking at a 2024 Presidential campaign there is a change.

And Mike Pence just drew a line with Donald Trump that no one could believe.

Pence was one of a series of speakers who delivered remarks as part of the Ronald Reagan Library’s “Time for Choosing” lecture series.

In his speech, Pence praised Donald Trump and his accomplishments such as cracking down on Communist China and building a border wall.

However, Pence broke with Trump’s challenges to the 2020 election.

“I understand the disappointment many feel about the last election,” Pence stated. “I can even relate. Remember, I lost reelection too. But there’s more at stake than our Party or our political fortunes.”

Pence rejected the idea that in his role as Vice President he could have rejected the results of the Electoral College and sent the contest back to the states, calling the idea “un-American.”

“Truth is, there is almost no idea more un-American than the notion that any one person could choose the American president,” Pence stated.

Pence argued that the Constitution did not grant him any such powers and that the Republican Party must always follow the Constitution.

“If we lose faith in the Constitution, we won’t just lose elections — we’ll lose our country,” Pence added.

“Now more than ever, America needs the Republican Party to be the party of the Constitution,” Pence continued.

After Mike Pence performed his duty to count the Electoral College votes on January 6, Donald Trump and some of his supporters became angry at Pence.

When Trump lists future leaders of the Republican Party, Mike Pence is not among them.

Pence appears to be staking his 2024 campaign on his role on January 6 in the hopes that the other candidates will all fight over the “Trump supporter” lane, leaving Pence free run to build a coalition out of the rest of the Republican voter pool as well as whatever Trump voters back Pence because of his service as Vice President.
