Former Vice President Mike Pence was never really sold on Making America Great Again.
After launching this latest betrayal of the President, he’s officially entered the Never Trump camp.
And many grassroots conservatives are still reeling after Pence’s latest unthinkable attack.
In a major speech at St. Anselm College in New Hampshire, Mike Pence completely aligned himself with the George W. Bush/Mitt Romney/Liz Cheney wing of the Republican Party.
The former Vice President used his speech to set the terms of debate in the GOP between Pence—who represented a return to the GOP of 2004 to 2012—and Donald Trump’s Make America Great Again agenda.
Even though Donald Trump won the 2016 election by cracking the blue wall by winning Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin, Pence demanded Republican voters ditch the Trump agenda for a restoration of the type of Republicanism favored by the D.C. Swamp.
“I came here to St. Anselm College to simply say from my heart that Republican voters face a choice in this state and in every state around the nation as these primaries unfold, and I believe that choice will determine the fate of our party and the course of our nation for years to come. So today I asked my fellow Republicans this: In the days to the come, will we be the party of conservatism, or will we follow the siren song of populism unmoored to conservative principles? The future of this movement in this party belongs to one or the other, not both. That’s because the fundamental divide between these two factions is unbridgeable,” Pence stated.
Just like in 2016, the dividing line between Trump and the establishment faction of the GOP is centered on foreign policy.
During the 2016 GOP primaries, President Trump forced a reckoning on George W. Bush’s disastrous decision to go to war in Iraq.
Trump did this by attacking Jeb Bush for his brother spending trillions to secure borders in the Middle East and leaving America’s southern border wide open.
Trump also ripped the GOP establishment for selling out American workers through globalist trade deals that shipped jobs to Mexico and Communist China.
These arguments won over the types of swing voters that allowed Trump to flip 200 counties that President Barack Obama carried twice.
Winning these counties provided the margin in the key battleground states that allowed Trump to defeat Hillary Clinton.
Now, the GOP establishment wants control of the party back, and former Vice President Mike Pence made his pitch to them as the man who can potentially accomplish that task.
Pence took aim at Donald Trump, who is busy telling Americans that it’s time to end the war in Ukraine and concentrate on securing America’s southern border.
“The Republican populists would abandon American leadership on the world stage, embracing a posture of appeasement in the face of rising threats to freedom. Republican populists would blatantly erode our constitutional norms,” Pence stated.
Pence claimed that Donald Trump’s insisting that leaders put the American people first was similar to President Joe Biden’s foreign policy.
“There’s already a party that embraces appeasement abroad. There’s already a party that would ignore our national debt. There’s already a party that wants to marginalize the right to life,” Pence added.
Pence supports U.S. taxpayers footing the bill for a blank check for the war in Ukraine, which drives up the national debt and depletes America’s arsenal.
Many argue that this weakens the ability of the United States to deter Communist China from invading Taiwan.
If anyone is endangering American national security, it’s establishment politicians like Mike Pence who empty the treasury and weapons stockpiles to pursue their goals in Ukraine.
