Mitt Romney just experienced the shock of his life when he stood up to make this speech

Mitt Romney never saw it coming.

The Utah Senator thought he was in for a normal day.

But Mitt Romney just experienced the shock of his life when he stood up to make this speech.

Over the weekend, Mitt Romney addressed the Utah state Republican convention.

As soon as Romney took the stage, the crowd began to loudly boo the godfather of the Never-Trump movement.

“You can boo all you like,” Romney fired back. “I’ve been a Republican all of my life. My dad was the Governor of Michigan and I was the Republican nominee for President in 2012.”

Grassroots activists were furious that Romney voted to impeach Donald Trump twice and effectively worked to help elect Joe Biden.

But even though it was Romney who sought to undermine the Republican President, Romney claimed it was the people booing him that should be embarrassed.

“Aren’t you embarrassed?” Romney exclaimed. “I’m a man who says what he means, and you know I was not a fan of our last President’s character issues.”

Even though Romney was a revered figure in Utah for helping to rescue the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympics, Romney’s popularity in Utah among Republicans sank after supporting impeachment.

The state convention was the first time Utah Republicans could en masse let Romney know how they felt.

As Romney spoke, some in the audience shouted “traitor” and “communist” at him to voice their displeasure.

What should be clear to anyone right now is the fact that Never-Trump fanatics like Romney are a small minority in the Republican Party, and that they will have little say on the future direction of the GOP.
