Democrats pulled another massive power play.
And Nancy Pelosi crossed this big line that every Democrat is now going to live to regret.
On Wednesday, Democrats voted to censure conservative Arizona Congressman Paul Gosar and kick him off all of his committees after Gosar tweeted out an anime video to express his opposition to Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Joe Biden’s open borders policies.
Ocasio-Cortez whined that the video contained death threats because a character with Gosar’s face superimposed on its body swung a sword at another character with Ocasio-Cortez’s face superimposed on its body.
Since Democrats hold the majority in the House of Representatives, the censure motion passed and Democrats kicked Gosar off his committees.
In the House, members get their committee assignments from their own Party and Democrats took an unprecedented step of kicking a member of the other Party out of his committee assignments.
House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy blasted Democrats for this norm-breaking power grab.
“Let me be clear. I do not condone violence, and Representative Gosar had echoed that sentiment. The video was deleted, but Democrats won’t listen because they will do anything to distract from the failures of one-party rule in one year destroying a nation,” McCarthy stated.
McCarthy hinted that since Republicans are strongly favored to win the majority in 2022, the GOP would begin kicking Democrats off their committee assignments in 2023.
“Their actions today and the past have forever changed the way the House operates. It means that the minority rights that have served this body as well are the things of the past. And furthermore, it means that under the Pelosi precedent, all of the members that I have mentioned earlier will need the approval of a majority to keep those positions in the future,” McCarthy added.
The GOP leader singled out Ilhan Omar for her anti-Semitic remarks, Maxine Waters for inciting violence against Trump administration officials, and Eric Swalwell for sleeping with a Communist Chinese spy as three Democrats a new GOP majority would likely boot from all committee assignments.
