Nancy Pelosi has been known to say some crazy things.
Her grip on reality has often times been questioned.
And her latest comment has some pundits scratching their heads and wondering what planet she is on.
Conservatives have blasted Paul Ryan’s Obamacare 2.0 legislation.
They contend it leaves Obamacare in place and makes health insurance less affordable.
These are all valid criticisms.
But Nancy Pelosi lobbed a criticism that had critics blasting her for hypocrisy.
Pelosi released a letter to Speaker Ryan that stated that every American should be able to see what’s in Paul Ryan’s Obamacare 2.0 bill.
Her letter read:
“Dear Speaker Ryan,
This week, the Committees on Energy & Commerce and Ways & Means will be marking up Republicans’ long-feared bill to dismantle affordable health care. The GOP legislation will have life or death consequences for tens of millions of families across America, and extraordinary impacts on state and federal budgets long into the future.
The American people and Members have a right to know the full impact of this legislation before any vote in Committee or by the whole House.
Members must not be asked to vote on this legislation before the CBO and the Joint Committee on Taxation have answered the following questions about your legislation in 2018 and 2019, over the 10-year budget window, and in the decade after: How will this bill measure up to the Affordable Care Act and current Medicaid law on coverage, quality, and cost? And how will it impact Medicare solvency?”
But her complaint rings hollow.
Nancy Pelosi’s most famous quote ever was during the debate over Obamacare.
Conservatives blasted the Democrats for ramming the bill through without anyone being able to read what was in it.
She responded that ‘you have to pass the bill to find out what’s in it.’
