After Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s death, Democrats went on the offensive.
They ramped up a pressure campaign to threaten Republicans with horrific consequences if Senate Republicans confirmed President Trump’s nominee to replace Ginsburg.
And now Nancy Pelosi may impeach Trump if the President makes this move to replace Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
ABC’s This Week host George Stephanopoulos floated the idea to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi of impeaching Donald Trump or William Barr to grind the Senate to a halt and prevent Republicans from confirming Ginsburg’s successor.
Pelosi responded that Democrats had arrows in their quiver and she would not reveal on live TV how the party would go about trying to stop President Trump’s nominee.
In a slightly bizarre exchange, Stephanopoulos asks if the House would impeach Trump or Barr if Senate GOP tries to vote on a SCOTUS nom during lame duck session (to stall the confirmation), and Pelosi refuses to rule it out: "We have our options. We have arrows in our quiver." pic.twitter.com/aoXPh6cFlt

This was a revealing exchange on a number of levels.
First, no one had suggested Democrats impeach Trump or Barr to force the Senate to conduct a trial and block any other business form being done.
Stephanopoulos – a supposedly objective news anchor – floated this advice to the Democratic Speaker of the House.
And second, Pelosi did not take impeachment off of the table.
Impeachment proved to be politically disastrous for Democrats.
Donald Trump hit his highest approval numbers shortly after the Senate acquitted him on the hyper-partisan articles of impeachment that Nancy Pelosi, Adam Schiff, and Jerry Nadler cooked up.
But it also speaks to the desperation Democrats feel as their base will demand the party go all out to defeat Donald Trump’s nominee.
