Nancy Pelosi was the biggest loser of the 2020 election.
Democrats suffered a humiliating wipeout, which saw their majority sliced to the thinnest level possible.
And now Nancy Pelosi never saw this ambush coming when she got on the phone with her allies.
Democrats held a conference call for their caucus two days after one of the biggest belly flops in party history.
Going into the election, Democrats thought they would pick up 15 GOP held seats.
Instead, Democrats may lose as many as 13 seats.
On the call, angry Democrats demanded answers.
Many that won Trump districts in 2018 fumed that socialists like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez made it easy for Republicans to paint Democrats as radicals by supporting a complete government takeover of healthcare and the Marxist Green New Deal.
“We need to not ever use the word ‘socialist’ or ‘socialism’ ever again. . . . We lost good members because of that,” Virginia Democrat Abigail Spanberger ranted. “If we are classifying Tuesday as a success . . . we will get f—ing torn apart in 2022.”
New York Democrats Max Rose and Anthony Brindisi who won seats in the 2018 election trailed by double digits after their Republican opponents painted them as supporters of defunding the police.
Even Nancy Pelosi came under criticism with one Democrat telling The Washington Post that Pelosi obstructed a new coronavirus to deny Trump a win.
The Democrat told The Post that in swing districts, it allowed Republicans to paint Democrats as obstructionists and that Pelosi’s disastrous strategy contributed to the defeat.
“It made us look like obstructionists instead of those up for the challenge the country needs,” said one lawmaker, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to talk frankly. “That was a huge mistake. Trump was like, ‘I’m ready for a deal, make it bigger!’ and Pelosi was obstructing.”
