The Trump administration is fighting to combat the economic fallout of the Chinese coronavirus outbreak.
Job losses threaten to mount in the millions as governments shutdown their state economies.
And now Nancy Pelosi pulled one power play that just made the coronavirus crisis go from bad to worse.
Senate Republicans, the Trump administration, and Democrats engaged in around the clock negotiations on a controversial $1.6 trillion relief package to keep small businesses afloat by providing grants to pay their workers.
The legislation also included direct payments to Americans with a family of four receiving on average $3,000 as well as support for distressed industries such as travel and hospitality to prevent even more drastic layoffs.
Everyone thought there was a deal until Nancy Pelosi flew in from San Francisco on Sunday to blow up the negotiations by issuing a series of demands to include socialist policy items that had nothing to do with keeping small businesses afloat during the Chinese coronavirus outbreak.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell ripped Pelosi for these partisan antics during a time when millions of Americans faced great uncertainty about if their next paycheck would arrive.
“I want everybody to fully understand if we aren’t able to act tomorrow, it will be because of our colleagues on the other side continuing to bicker when the country expects us to come together and address the problem,” McConnell declared.
Speaker Pelosi’s actions threatened to kick off another round of stock market losses that could wipe out trillions of dollars in wealth.
Democrats refuse to put country over party because they want to tank the economy and hope the outbreak inflicts as much pain as possible on the American people because their entire 2020 strategy now depends on painting the Chinese coronavirus as “Donald Trump’s Hurricane Katrina.”
