Nancy Pelosi held a major closed-door meeting with her fellow Democrats.
It did not go at all as Leftists predicted.
And Nancy Pelosi said two words that signaled one big Democrat defeat.
Democrats are fighting to piece together the votes to pass Joe Biden’s socialist spending bill.
Bernie Sanders and his fellow socialists initially planned for a $3.5 trillion blowout that would create a new welfare state and impose the Marxist Green New Deal.
But Democrat Senators Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema opposed that level of spending.
Pelosi and her allies finally admitted Democrats would have to accept a smaller socialist spending bill and in a caucus meeting on Monday, Pelosi told Democrats to “embrace this” and forget the Bernie Sanders-Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez $3.5 trillion pipe dream.
“Embrace this,” Pelosi told her fellow Democrats. “And have a narrative of success.”
Pelosi pitched the bill as a massive win despite socialist priorities such as paid family leave, expanding government run healthcare, and job-killing taxes and regulations to fight so-called “climate change” all ended up on the cutting room floor of this massive bill.
“As Democratic leaders try to finalize an agreement with Sens. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) and Kyrsten Sinema (D-Ariz.) this week, major liberal priorities — once seen as red lines — have repeatedly been crossed, pared back or even cut all together. Medicare expansion, new Medicaid coverage and paid leave are all threatening to go the way of a carbon tax and the Clean Electricity Performance Plan: overboard,” POLITICO reported.
Democrats still plan to spend $1.5 to $1.75 trillion on socialist programs and so-called “climate change” programs.
The bill will serve to kill jobs and drive-up inflation as the Fed prints more money to finance this big government blowout.
But Democrat disappointment over the bill falling short of initial expectations could serve to depress Democrat rank-and-file voter enthusiasm next November.
And that could explain Pelosi’s pep rally to line up her caucus behind the bill to begin an uphill sales battle to both swing voters and the Party’s own base.
