Nancy Pelosi is up to her ears in problems.
But one Democrat just gave her a major headache.
And Nancy Pelosi was furious after a vulnerable Democrat committed this colossal blunder.
The pandemic was used by the Left for a massive political power grab.
Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) is no exception.
In March of 2020, the House allowed Representatives to vote without being in the chamber by authorizing another member to vote for up to 10 other Representatives.
More commonly known as “proxy voting,” Democrats implemented the process during the pandemic to keep the House running while no one was there.
But even though President Joe Biden says the pandemic is over, Pelosi continues to allow proxy voting in the House.
The move backfired on Pelosi after one vulnerable House Democrat made a game-changing blunder.
Cindy Axne (D-IA) is one of the most vulnerable Democrats in the country.
But Axne was just caught in a jaw-dropping lie about proxy voting that could turn her race upside down.
While Joe Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act was on the House floor for a vote, Axne granted her proxy to Jennifer Wexton (D-VA).
In a letter to the House Clerk, Axne said her decision to use proxy voting was “due to the ongoing public health emergency.”
Axne was caught lying after her son’s Instagram pictures revealed that Axne and her family were on vacation in France.
“The deal is I’m a family member,” Axne told Iowa’s WHO 13 after being caught. “I’m a mom of two boys and my husband. We had August session, where we were out of session here, and I had a trip planned for eight months and paid for because that was the only time that I could go because we were out of session.”
Instead of showing up to do the job she was elected to do, Axne lied about a public health emergency so she could take a vacation to Europe.
Axne is already on the defensive after being caught lying.
“I was gone. I wanted to make sure that I voted so Iowans can have a voice because we need the Inflation Reduction Act for Iowans and we needed to make sure we have that vote,” Axne said.
Congressional ethics watchdogs are raising concerns about Axne lying to Congress and the public.
“Anytime a House Member makes false statements to the Clerk and the American people, it is gravely concerning,” Kendra Arnold with the nonpartisan ethics watchdog Foundation for Accountability and Civic Trust (FACT) said.
“This is a willful abuse of the system and is dishonest,” Arnold continued. “If a House Member is not present to vote due to a vacation, it is not an option to submit false statements to the Clerk. FACT will be looking into filing an ethics complaint with the Office of Congressional Ethics.”
Cindy Axne’s blatant lie about proxy voting could help Republicans flip a crucial seat during the Midterm elections.
