But for high-profile environmentalists like former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), sacrifice is for the little people.
Pelosi is a leader in trying to restrict carbon emissions and wants to eventually eliminate the use of fossil fuels.
Last year at the U.N.’s climate summit, she said “nothing can deter House Democrats from our urgent mission to save the planet.”
While Pelosi was warning about the dangers of climate change, she was crisscrossing the country on private jets to try and save her doomed house majority during last year’s midterm elections.
Federal campaign finance records revealed that Pelosi spent a whopping $349,563 on private jets during the Midterm elections.
Her campaign hired Advanced Aviation, a Virginia-based charter flight company favored by Democrat politicians and campaigns.
Advanced Aviation offers clients luxurious private jets that include personal flight attendants and feature a “comprehensive list of on-board amenities and sophisticated finishes.”
The private jet hypocrisy extends well beyond Pelosi to other top left-wing environmentalists such as Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT).
Sanders is a supporter of the Green New Deal championed by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) that would end the use of fossil fuels.
“The scientific community is telling us in no uncertain terms that we have less than 11 years left to transform our energy system away from fossil fuels to energy efficiency and sustainable energy, if we are going to leave this planet healthy and habitable for ourselves, our children, grandchildren, and future generations,” Sanders’ campaign website states.
But campaign finance records show that Sanders spent $71,800 on private jet flights with three companies, Apollo Jets, N-Jet, and Mac Jet Charter.
Even radical environmental groups fighting for the Green New Deal indulged in luxurious private jets.
Leading environmental activism group, NextGen Climate Action Committee, spent $56,982 on private jets.
Flying via a private jet is the most carbon-intensive way to travel.
Private planes emit 10 times the carbon that commercial flights do and 50 times more than trains.
If Democrats really believed that climate change is an existential crisis then they would act like it and sacrifice their private jet travel for the environment.
