Devin Nunes already authored one memo that proved the entire Russia investigation is a politically motivated farce.
But that was just step one.
Now he’s after a transcript that could blow up the Russia investigation for good.
Nunes is after the transcript of the hearing where the FBI obtained a FISA warrant to spy on Trump campaign aide Carter Page.
His memo showed that the warrant could not have been obtained without the fake news Russia dossier.
And it also revealed that the FBI was not fully forthcoming about who paid for the dossier.
The Bureau also used a news article about the memo that was anonymously sourced to Steele to back up the dossier’s assertions.
Nunes wants to know if the FBI misled the court in the hearing.
The Daily Caller reports:
“Nunes asked Rosemary Colyer, the presiding judge on the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court (FISC), for transcripts of any hearings “associated with the initial [Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act] application or subsequent renewals related to electronic surveillance of Carter Page.”
Fox News obtained the letter sent Wednesday.
Republican lawmakers, including Nunes, have alleged that the FBI and Justice Department misled the FISA court in the applications for the Page spy warrants. The applications relied heavily on the unverified Steele dossier, and made “material omissions” regarding the salacious document, including that the Clinton campaign and DNC financed the dossier project.
“The Committee found that the FBI and DOJ failed to disclose the specific political actors paying for uncorroborated information that formed a substantial part of the FISA application, misled the FISC regarding dissemination of this information, and failed to correct these errors in the subsequent renewals,” reads Nunes’s letter.”
If the FBI misrepresented their evidence to the court it would be further proof that the Russia investigation was built on fake news.
This would only increase the calls from critics to shut the probe down.
