One investigative reporter is slamming the media for ignoring this major threat

Obama was caught red-handed spying on the Trump campaign.

But the media, blinded by their hatred for Trump, are splitting hairs over Trump’s tweets describing Obama “wiretapping” Trump Tower.

And now one investigative reporter is taking them to task for willfully ignoring a major threat to our system of government.

Sharyl Attkisson was an investigative reporter for CBS during the Obama administration.

It was during that time she believes her CBS computer was repeatedly hacked into by a U.S. intelligence agency.

Writing about the reports this week that “the FBI did indeed ‘wiretap’ the former head of Trump’s campaign, Paul Manafort, both before and after Trump was elected,” she pointedly accuses the media of “missing the bigger story.”

Attkisson writes:

If these reports are accurate, it means U.S. intelligence agencies secretly surveilled at least a half dozen Trump associates. And those are just the ones we know about.

She goes on to speculate the intelligence agencies are being weaponized and the media is ignoring it.

She continues:

Nobody wants our intel agencies to be used like the Stasi in East Germany; the secret police spying on its own citizens for political purposes. The prospect of our own NSA, CIA and FBI becoming politically weaponized has been shrouded by untruths, accusations and justifications.

You’ll recall DNI Clapper falsely assured Congress in 2013 that the NSA was not collecting “any type of data at all on millions or hundreds of millions of Americans.”

Yet she points out the CIA was caught spying on Senate Intelligence Committee staffers in 2014, there were wiretaps on Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) in 2011, and Rep. Jane Harman (D-CA) under Bush.

The Obama administration was caught spying on Fox News, the AP, and as Attkisson alleges in a lawsuit, her computers while she worked at CBS:

Forensics have revealed dates, times and methods of some of the illegal activities. The software used was proprietary to a federal intel agency. The intruders deployed a keystroke monitoring program, accessed the CBS News corporate computer system, listened in on my conversations by activating the computer’s microphone and used Skype to exfiltrate files.

Then she skewers the media who ignore what’s happening:

It’s difficult not to see patterns in the government’s behavior, unless you’re wearing blinders.

  • The intelligence community secretly expanded its authority in 2011 so it can monitor innocent U.S. citizens like you and me for doing nothing more than mentioning a target’s name a single time.
  • In January 2016, a top secret inspector general report found the NSA violated the very laws designed to prevent abuse.
  • In 2016, Obama officials searched through intelligence on U.S. citizens a record 30,000 times, up from 9,500 in 2013.
  • Two weeks before the election, at a secret hearing before the FISA court overseeing government surveillance, NSA officials confessed they’d violated privacy safeguards “with much greater frequency” than they’d admitted. The judge accused them of “institutional lack of candor” and said, “this is a very serious Fourth Amendment issue.”

….
It seems that government monitoring of journalists, members of Congress and political enemies — under multiple administrations — has become more common than anyone would have imagined two decades ago. So has the unmasking of sensitive and highly protected names by political officials.

Those deflecting with minutiae are missing the point. To me, they sound like the ones who aren’t thinking.

We live in a brave new world.

The question is, are Americans willing to do anything about it?

A key surveillance power, Section 702 of the FISA Amendments Act, is coming up for reauthorization later this year.

Concerned Americans should demand this provision be allowed to expire given how clearly the government has abused it.

The fate of our republic may rest on it.

  1. Did you know that Obama is really Osama bin Laden, he is still alive.

  2. Thank you Sharyl for the courage to stand up for the truth of Almighty God and His Son, Jesus Christ regardless of the circumstances.

  3. These wiretaps were done with court approval. A federal court determined that was probable cause to believe that a criminal violation was being/ had been committed by the targets of the wiretap. That is how it works.

  4. Well, I for one am still waiting patiently for Trump to tell those in any political office those two fateful, and famous words, “YOU’RE FIRED!” If he plans to “drain the swamp,” let it be SOON!! I’ve noticed a few improvements, but he has quite a long way to go. But the time for action is now, before the Dems take control again.

  5. As far as doing anything about the Intel community, you saw what happened to Trump when he said he was going to clean house for them. Should you act, be prepared to be an govt. target. It will take a general uprising at this point in time to effect any changes.

  6. Sheryl Attkisson, author & victim, should spearhead a petition & campaign to end FISA authorization. Also, Fox news anchor (can’t recall name) whom was also a victim should co- sponsor the action. It’s an atrocity to all Americans including the ones to ignorant to see it & complicit in acknowledgement. This needs to be a grassroots movement.

  7. All people involved in this abuse need to be brought to justice. This is wrong. I believe the reason more is not said or done is because like so many evils in the world today people feel justified by whatever they do. PRIDE and GREED, two BIG SINS that people have a hard time recognizing as with all sin, any longer. Sad state the world, our country, our government, our citizens are in. We should care more about OUR SOULS AND THE SOULS OF OUR LOVED ONES to speak out against the evils of our times and corruption and abuse of individual freedoms is just another in the LONG LIST of evils. Praying for our world.

    • Kathleen . . . I wept last night over why I came to Jesus in the first place. Was it because I woke up to my sinful condition . . . or was it because I felt such guilt for what I put Jesus through, for Him having to die for all my sins? You see, I think it was because of fear of what might happen after I die . . . but, it’s all selfish! Everyone, everything, every time I think about why I came to Jesus in the first place, it makes me wonder just why anyone did . . . and it seems so selfish if it was just to stay out of hell!!!

Sure, Jesus tells us to love others as we love ourselves . . . but, what if one doesn’t love self? What if one doesn’t really know love? My point in writing this is simple . . . we should have come to Jesus because of His love for us . . . because of what He did for us . . . because of why He did it ! ! ! Our faith shouldn’t be based on our fear of after-life, but on why there’s life . . . because of Jesus ! ! !

  8. Why hasn’t it dawned on the ordinary, everyday Democrat folks that the people they put their faith and trust in are evil to the core? Why haven’t they noticed? Is it because they’re embarrassed and want to hide the truth? Is it because they’re BLIND and DEAF to the truth? Or is it perhaps that they, too, are stupid and amoral?

    • President Trump needs to drain the swamp NOW . . . and begin with all those working in the White House that were their under Obama!!! Fire everyone who was there under Obama . . . every trace of that traitor of a bastard needs to be out of range of making any more of Obama’s moves in our government ! ! !
