One late night impeachment bombshell spelled bad news for Donald Trump

The Democrats’ impeachment witch hunt was imploding before their very eyes and President Trump was on the road to exoneration.

But then something happened.

And one late night impeachment bombshell spelled bad news for Donald Trump.

President Trump’s lawyers began their opening arguments in the impeachment trial by dismantling the Democrats case for removing the President in just two hours.

Everything looked like it was on track for a quick trial with the Senate acquitting the President before the State of the Union.

But late on Sunday night a story in The New York Times appeared reporting that a former National Security Advisor John Bolton alleges in his new anti-Trump book that last August the President indicated that the freeze in military aid to Ukraine was tied to investigations into Joe and Hunter Biden’s corruption.

The Times reported that “in his August 2019 discussion with Mr. Bolton, the president appeared focused on the theories Mr. Giuliani had shared with him, replying to Mr. Bolton’s question that he preferred sending no assistance to Ukraine until officials had turned over all materials they had about the Russia investigation that related to Mr. Biden and supporters of Mrs. Clinton in Ukraine.”

President Trump strongly denied this allegation and called Bolton an opportunistic liar looking to score a quick buck.

“I NEVER told John Bolton that the aid to Ukraine was tied to investigations into Democrats, including the Bidens.” Trump stated, “In fact, he never complained about this at the time of his very public termination.”

“If John Bolton said this, it was only to sell a book. With that being said, the transcripts of my calls with President Zelensky are all the proof that is needed, in addition to the fact that President Zelensky & the Foreign Minister of Ukraine said there was no pressure and no problems,” President Trump continued.

“Additionally, I met with President Zelensky at the United Nations (Democrats said I never met) and released the military aid to Ukraine without any conditions or investigations – and far ahead of schedule. I also allowed Ukraine to purchase Javelin anti-tank missiles. My Administration has done far more than the previous Administration.”

Bolton’s credibility as a witness was also undermined by the fact that The New York Times reported that Bolton passed copies of the manuscript for his book around to his associates.

But Bolton’s lawyer claimed the only people who saw the manuscript were officials on the National Security Council that review materials intended for publication for any classified information.

Someone is lying.

And this – in addition to President Trump’s denials – make it clear Bolton’s book looks like a lot of smoke and mirrors that distorts the facts.
