Democrats are constantly trying to start fights with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.
It never ends well for them.
One leading Democrat attacked Ron DeSantis and it backfired in the most spectacular way.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis set off a political firestorm with his decision to fly illegal aliens from Texas and dump them off in the upscale left-wing island of Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts.
Democrats melted down after wealthy leftists were forced to face the consequences of President Joe Biden’s border crisis.
California’s Democrat Governor Gavin Newsom spent the past few months trying to start a fight with Ron DeSantis.
Newsom is attacking DeSantis as a way to try and build his national profile with Democrats ahead of a potential Presidential bid.
In response to DeSantis flying planes of illegal aliens to Martha’s Vineyard, Newsom asked the Justice Department to investigate the Florida Governor for “kidnapping.”
“Several of the individuals who were transported to Martha’s Vineyard have alleged that a recruiter induced them to accept the offer of travel based on false representations that they would be transported to Boston and would receive expedited access to work authorization,” Newsom wrote in a letter to the Justice Department. “I urge the US DOJ to investigate whether the alleged fraudulent inducement would support charges of kidnapping under relevant state laws.”
This an absolutely absurd charge considering that the illegal aliens signed a waiver to voluntarily take the flight.
Newsom’s attack on DeSantis backfired in spectacular fashion after his own history of busing people out of town was revealed.
While serving as the Mayor of San Francisco in 2006, Newsom launched a program called “Homeward Bound” to bus the growing homeless population out of town.
The program gave the homeless a one-way bus ticket to cities “where friends and family may help them.”
Newsom saw the program as a way to save money on welfare and as a way to solve San Francisco’s homeless problem.
After calling DeSantis “cruel” for sending the illegal aliens to Martha’s Vineyard, Newsom used the same strategy to send San Francisco’s homeless people to other cities.
When confronted about this stunning hypocrisy by Fox News, Newsom claimed there was “no comparison” between the moves.
“There is no comparison between the two,” a Newsom spokesperson told Fox News. “San Francisco helped people get home to their families. Republicans kidnapped people for a political stunt.”
Newsom defended “Homeward Bound” in 2019 when he blamed Texas for the city’s rampant homeless problem.
According to Newsom, Texas is responsible for the “vast majority” of the homeless population in San Francisco.
Gavin Newsom humiliated himself yet again by trying to pick another fight with Ron DeSantis.
