The Democrats failed for a second time to convict Donald Trump on articles of impeachment.
But for the few Republicans who supported this witch hunt the fallout is just beginning.
And one Republican voted to impeach Trump. Then he received this jaw-dropping letter.
Illinois Congressman Adam Kinzinger is emerging as one of the leaders of the Never-Trump Republicans.
Kinzinger stated his goal for the 2022 election cycle is to purge the President and his supporters from the Republican Party.
Step one in that process – Kinzinger thought – was voting to impeach Donald Trump.
But Kinzinger badly misread the mood of Republican Party voters and their feelings toward Trump.
And the six term Illinois Congressman had to look no farther than his own family to see how badly he miscalculated.
Eleven of Kinzinger’s cousins sent him a letter disowning him from the family over his vote to impeach Trump, saying Kinzinger joined “the Devil’s army.”
“Oh my, what a disappointment you are to us and to God,” the letter stated. “We were once so proud of your accomplishments! Instead, you go against your Christian principles and join the ‘devil’s army’ (Democrats and the fake news media). How do you call yourself a Christian when you join the ‘devil’s army’ believing in abortion? We thought you were ‘smart’ enough to see how the left is brainwashing as many ‘so called good people’ including yourself and many other GOP members. You have even fallen for their socialist ideals. So, so, sad!”
For his part Kinzinger expressed no remorse and didn’t seem to care that his family was that upset with him.
“I hold nothing against them,” Kinzinger told The New York Times, “but I have zero desire or feel the need to reach out and repair that. That is 100 percent on them to reach out and repair, and quite honestly, I don’t care if they do or not.”
Kinzinger is sure to face a primary challenge in 2022 and Kinzinger’s recent media tour where he is now a regular on CNN is seen by many as laying the groundwork to be the latest anti-Trump Republican to cash in after being bounced in a primary.
