Securing the integrity of America’s elections will be one of the defining fights over the next two years in American politics.
Democrats suffered a massive setback on this front.
And this voter fraud victory in court has Donald Trump grinning from ear to ear.
Donald Trump and other Republicans like Kentucky Senator Rand Paul want states to tighten rules around mail-in ballots to increase confidence in the integrity of election results.
That became a hot button issue because of decisions like one the Virginia Board of Elections made last August to allow ballots with no postmark that arrived after Election Day to count.
Americans rightly were worried that without proof ballots were mailed by Election Day a flood of illegal ballots could cancel out legal votes.
The Public Interest Legal Foundation filed a lawsuit on behalf of Frederick County election official Thomas Reed and a federal judge blocked the rule from taking effect for the November election while the case was being decided.
On Monday, Virginia Circuit Court Judge William Eldridge permanently blocked this dangerous precedent ruling that accepting mail-in ballots after Election Day with no postmark violated state law.
Public Interest Legal Foundation President and General Counsel J. Christian Adams boasted that the decision was a major victory in the fight to restore confidence in America’s elections.
“This is a big win for the Rule of Law,” Adams declared.
“This consent decree gives Mr. Reed everything he requested – a permanent ban on accepting ballots without postmarks after Election Day and is a loss for the Virginia bureaucrats who said ballots could come in without these protections.”
Republicans argued that, in the 2020 election, Democrat election officials and judges illegally changed the rules for mail-in voting, which allowed Joe Biden and the Democrats to drive up turnout with illegal ballots cast.
This court decision in Virginia is the first step toward stopping Democrats manipulating the rules for their own benefit.
