Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is officially a candidate for President of the United States.

DeSantis is letting Americans know what he would do if they elect him to serve as Commander-in-Chief.

And Ron DeSantis left Trey Gowdy stunned with this plan to drop the hammer on the FBI.

DeSantis appeared on Trey Gowdy’s Fox News Channel show for his first interview as a Presidential candidate.

One of the themes of DeSantis’ launch was driving a stake through the heart of the Deep State.

Woke FBI Director Christopher Wray is a key player in the Left’s weaponization of the federal government.

Wray oversaw the largest manhunt in FBI history to chase down every Trump supporter who walked around the Capitol on January 6 while at the same time claiming Antifa is just an idea and not a real terrorist threat.

Under Wray, the FBI targeted Pro-Life Pastors who pray outside abortion clinics while giving a free pass to abortion fanatics in Jane’s Revenge who commit acts of terrorism targeted at crisis pregnancy centers.

When asked about Director Wray, DeSantis told Gowdy that he would fire Wray on day one of his administration.

“I would not keep Chris Wray as Director of the FBI, there would be a new one day one. I think that’s very important,” DeSantis stated.

DeSantis explained that his theory of hiring an Attorney General and FBI Director would be that he would look for strong conservatives who thought the media attacking them was a “badge of honor.”

“In terms of an Attorney General, you need someone that’s got a really strong backbone. You need somebody that knows that if you’re going in there and you’re taking care of business, The Washington Post is not going to like you, The New York Times is not going to like you, you’re going to get attacked by CNN, and you’ve got to wear that as a badge of honor. You can’t try to please polite society, because otherwise you’ll just get captured by the institution itself. And I think the DOJ and FBI have lost their way. I think that they’ve been weaponized against Americans who think like me and you, and I think that they’ve become very partisan,” DeSantis added.

DeSantis rejected the false notion perpetuated by the media and the Democrat Party that the FBI and DOJ are independent agencies.

As Joe Biden demonstrated, this is not the case.

But DeSantis argued that past Republican Presidents fell for the trap of letting the DOJ and FBI operate on autopilot, which allows the career bureaucrats – who are overwhelming left-wing ideologues – to actually control the FBI and DOJ’s agenda.

“Part of the reason that’s happened, Trey, is because Republican Presidents have accepted the canard that the DOJ and FBI are ‘independent.’ They are not independent agencies, they are part of the executive branch, they answer to the elected president of the United States. So, as president, you have a responsibility to be involved in holding those agencies accountable, clearing out people who are not doing the job, and making sure that they’re doing the people’s business and they’re not abusing their authority. For example, if the FBI or DOJ, whatever collude with a tech company to try to censor information, everybody involved with that would be fired immediately if I were the president. And right now, I think those agencies have been able to go without any real accountability,” DeSantis concluded.
