During a disappointing Midterm election, Florida was one of the few bright spots for conservatives.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis trounced his Democrat challenger by 19 points enroute to the biggest victory for a Republican gubernatorial candidate in the state’s history.
As the Republican Party turns its attention to the 2024 election, DeSantis offered some advice to the party to win big on the national stage.
DeSantis released a book about his time as Governor, The Courage to Be Free: Florida’s Blueprint for America’s Revival, ahead of an increasingly likely Presidential bid.
He predicted that Republicans nationally could replicate his massive victory in Florida if they follow his example of ignoring the polls and sticking to a conservative agenda.
“From day one, I was fully prepared to let the political chips fall where they may,” DeSantis wrote in his book. “That we not only succeeded electorally, but did so in dramatic fashion, demonstrates that doing good policy can lead to good politics.”
Despite the relentless attacks from Democrats and their media allies, the Florida Governor never wavered on his bold conservative leadership.
“The Florida Blueprint is a simple formula: be willing to lead, have the courage of your convictions, deliver for your constituents, and reap the political rewards,” DeSantis continued. “This is a blueprint for America’s revival. We’ve shown it can be done.”
Florida was one of the biggest swing states in the country for decades before DeSantis’s 2020 landslide election.
During his first election in 2018, DeSantis only won by a little over 30,000 votes.
In 2020, his margin increased to 1.5 million votes which became the largest raw vote margin in Florida gubernatorial history.
“We were able to accomplish these great electoral triumphs by taking the political road less traveled. We spent four years ignoring polls, setting out my vision for the state, successfully implementing that vision, and producing tangible results,” DeSantis concluded in the book.
His blueprint included fighting back against woke corporations and politicians, standing up for parents’ rights in education, and keeping government small.
DeSantis is kicking off a book tour that has planned stops in key Presidential primary states.
The blueprint for Florida laid out in his book could be the foundation of a potential Presidential campaign.
Whether or not DeSantis runs, he’s handed Republicans a model of success that can be emulated across the country.
