Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is delivering big wins for conservatives.
Democrats tried to throw a monkey wrench into the Governor’s plans.
But Ron DeSantis was all smiles after a court handed him this massive victory.
Last September, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis created a political firestorm with his decision to fly illegal aliens from Texas to the wealthy resort island of Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts.
The move drew national attention and left Democrats and their flunkies in the corporate-controlled media in a frenzy.
Florida paid for the flights with money allocated in the state budget that drew from interest earned on unused pandemic relief funds.
Almost immediately after the flights, seething Democrats began looking for a way to use the legal system to target DeSantis for the move.
Despite the fact that the illegal aliens voluntarily took the flight, California Democrat Governor Gavin Newsom said that DeSantis should be charged under federal kidnapping laws.
Activist groups also began targeting DeSantis with a series of lawsuits over the flights.
Now, a judge in Florida has dismissed one of the frivolous lawsuits against the Florida Governor.
The left-wing nonprofit Florida Center for Government Accountability (FCGA) filed a lawsuit in Leon County against the Florida Department of Transportation and Vertol Systems Company, which is the charter aircraft company that flew the illegal aliens to Martha’s Vineyard.
The group alleged that the Department and Vertol violated the state’s public records law by not turning over documents that were requested about the flights to Martha’s Vineyard.
While the pair handed over documents to the FCGA, the left-wing group claimed that more documents were being illegally withheld.
Leon County Circuit Court Judge Angela Dempsey ruled in favor of DeSantis and dismissed the lawsuit against Vertol.
“The burden is on the plaintiff to prove they made a specific request for public records, that Vertol received the request, the requested public records exist and Vertol refused to provide them in a timely manner,” Dempsey wrote in her decision. “While plaintiff meets the first and second prongs of the test, there is no evidence that the public records exist or that Vertol refused to produce public records in a timely manner.”
The judge smacked down the FCGA by ruling that there was no proof that the records even existed, let alone that Vertol was illegally refusing to turn them over.
Dempsey previously ruled against the group’s lawsuit over the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) allegedly withholding records.
“There was no unlawful refusal to provide public records by the FDOT,” the judge ruled.
The failure of this frivolous lawsuit is another stinging defeat for Democrats against Ron DeSantis.
