Ryan Seacrest revealed one important truth about becoming host of Wheel of Fortune

American Idol host Ryan Seacrest is set to replace Pat Sajak as the host of Wheel of Fortune.

He has some big shoes to fill left behind by the legendary host.

And Ryan Seacrest revealed one important truth about becoming host of Wheel of Fortune.

Wheel of Fortune is undergoing its biggest shakeup in decades

Wheel of Fortune host Pat Sajak announced last year that he was retiring after this season of the long-running game show.

Sajak was the original host of the nighttime show beginning in 1983 and hosted the daytime version that ran from 1981 to 1989.

He and letter-turner Vanna White became synonymous with Wheel of Fortune after decades on television.

American Idol host Ryan Seacrest was quickly tapped as Sajak’s replacement behind the wheel.

Ryan Seacrest weighs in on taking over for Pat Sajak

Sajak taped his final episode of Wheel in early April, which will air on June 7.

Now all eyes are on Seacrest as attempts to replace one of the most popular hosts in game show history.

Seacrest talked to Fox News Digital about taking over as host of Wheel of Fortune.

“He [Sajak] has made such an impact on this whole country,” Seacrest said. “He’s become a companion, a best friend to a lot of people.”

“I have so much respect and admiration for what he’s been able to do,” Seacrest continued. “He’s a total pro. No one’s smoother and seamless than Pat.”

The American Idol admitted that no one can replace the legendary host, so he’s focusing on keeping the fun going.

“No one can replace him,” Seacrest stated. “I just want to come in and continue to have fun with those contestants.”

Fans got their first look at him as host with Vanna White during a brief promotional clip for the new season this fall.

“Ryan Seacrest joins Vanna White this fall on Wheel of Fortune,” the promo states. “New host, same place.”

Seacrest has had a long hosting career to get him ready to call out letters on Wheel.

He’s been the host of American Idol since its debut in 2002 and took over as host of Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve starting in 2006 along with stints at E! News and Live with Kelly and Ryan.

Wheel of Fortune is going to be a change of pace compared to his previous hosting duties.

“It’s about having fun on stage. The difference with Wheel and Idol is we’re giving away cash and prizes,” Seacrest stated. “Here, we’re giving away a future in music. There, it’s cash and prizes. I can’t wait!”

Wheel is slated to begin shooting for the new season airing this fall sometime this summer.

Ryan Seacrest will have one of the tallest tasks in television history by replacing the host who made Wheel of Fortune into one of the most successful game shows of all time.
