Sofia Vergara made one confession about steamy love scenes that left fans’ jaws on the floor

Actress Sofia Vergara shot to fame starring on the hit ABC sitcom Modern Family.

Now she’s going in a completely different direction with her latest career move.

And Sofia Vergara made one confession about steamy love scenes that left fans’ jaws on the floor.

Sofia Vergara was nervous about baring it all on camera

Actress Sofia Vergara earned critical acclaim for portraying Colombian immigrant Gloria Delgado-Pritchett on the ABC sitcom Modern Family.

Her next role is a change of pace after starting on a sitcom for 11 seasons.

Vergara – a native of Barranquilla, Colombia – is starring as the infamous Colombian drug lord Griselda Blanco in the Netflix series Griselda.

The crime drama is based on the true story of Blanco’s rise and fall running one of the biggest drug cartels in the world.

Vergara was known for her comedy chops on Modern Family, so starring in serious crime drama was a transition for her.

The 51-year-old actress said that she was nervous about the intimate scenes that the role required.

“I don’t think I’ve ever done like, [an adult] scene,” Vergara told The US Sun.

She said that she never filmed one with her onscreen husband in Modern Family, actor Ed O’Neil of Married with Children fame.

“I’m 50! I mean, when I was 30, I wouldn’t have worried,” Vergara said. “I think I was worried that I was going to look horrific.”

The Colombian beauty was worried the camera would get the wrong angle.

“I was like, ‘Where are they shooting me? The cellulite? From the side,’” Vergara recalled. “Uh, I’m vain I guess. That one kept me awake I think.”

Sofia Vergara trusted her director

Switching gears to take on a dark and gritty part required Vergara to put her faith in director Andrés Baiz’s vision.

Vergara said that despite her nerves over the racy love scenes, she was happy with the way they turned out.

“It’s really dark and Andy [Baiz], the director, is very artistic and he made me feel super comfortable and he’s like, ‘We’re never going to stay like a long time on you [the camera],’” Vergara explained.

The part required transforming Vergara’s look to fit the series that’s set in the 1970s and ‘80s.

“It was in Miami in the ’70s and the ’80s. Getting the look correct was very important to me,” Vergara said. “I needed to disappear.”

Her physical transformation for the part included five wigs and other changes to become the notorious drug lord.

“She’s wearing prosthetic eyebrow covers and false eyebrows that are glued on, a nose, and a plate of teeth slightly bucked,” makeup artist Todd McIntosh said.

The movie hits close to home for Vergara who grew up in Colombia before immigrating to the United States in 1998.

“I grew up in Colombia in the ’70s, the ’80s and the ’90s, and as you know, that was the time where Narco traffic, unfortunately, was touching the lives of every single person in Colombia,” Vergara stated. “It was really rough times for the country, for families.”
