Cruz Drops the Name That Has the Whole Party Frozen
Speaking at the Energy Affordability Summit in Columbus, Ohio, on September 3, Cruz laid it out without flinching.
"It is not the case that every Senate Democrat is a Marxist or Islamist," Cruz said. "What is the case is that every Senate Democrat is terrified of the Marxists and Islamists. Because that's where the energy is in their party, that's where the power is, that's where the money is; it's where the young people are."
Then he named the name.
"I think Mamdani is the single most powerful Democrat in the country," he added.
Not Schumer. Not Hakeem Jeffries. Not Hillary Clinton.
Zohran Mamdani – a member of the Democratic Socialists of America who took his mayoral oath on a Quran – is calling the shots for the entire Democrat Party, whether they admit it or not.
Cruz said Chuck Schumer is "truly terrified right now."
The Senate Minority Leader – the man who spent decades positioning himself as the face of the Democrat Party – is frozen, afraid to cross the radical left that now controls his party's money, energy, and future voters.
That's not a party in opposition.
That's a party held hostage.
What Mamdani Is Already Doing to New York
If you want to understand why Cruz is sounding the alarm, look at what Mamdani has unleashed on New York City since taking office in January 2026.
He campaigned on rent freezes, free buses, city-owned grocery stores, and a $30 minimum wage.
Then came the pied-à-terre tax – sold to New Yorkers as a small levy targeting billionaire out-of-towners with luxury second homes.
It was a lie.
Mark Penn – Bill Clinton's own former pollster and chief strategist – tore the scheme apart on Fox News.
The city's Department of Finance sent notices to 960,000 property entries.
Not 30,000 luxury billionaires.

Nearly one million property owners were suddenly forced to prove to the government they deserved to keep their homes.
"The $5 million figure was a fake," Penn wrote, arguing Mamdani's city had intentionally misclassified properties to cast the widest net possible.
The surcharge on non-primary residences can reach 5% or more of market value annually – potentially $50,000 a year tacked onto a million-dollar property.
Penn's verdict: "This is how creeping socialism works."
Rahm Emanuel – Barack Obama's own White House chief of staff – has been warning that the new generation of DSA socialists don't like America.
These aren't Republicans saying this.
These are the people who built the modern Democrat Party, watching Mamdani drive it off a cliff.
The Pattern Cruz Sees That the Media Won't Report
DSA-affiliated candidates have been winning Democrat primaries in New York, Michigan, Colorado, Florida, and Oklahoma.The socialist wave that crashed into New York City in 2025 is spreading race by race.
At a fundraiser in Iowa on August 29, Cruz was even more direct: "Comrade Mamdani is the most dangerous and the most powerful Democrat in America."
Every Senate Democrat running in 2026 is being forced to make a choice: cross the socialist base that writes the checks and turns out the volunteers, or go along with an agenda that Clinton-era Democrats are publicly calling dangerous.
They're choosing silence.
Every single one of them.

The entire Democrat caucus is letting a 34-year-old DSA mayor from Queens set the terms of their party's future – because they're more afraid of losing a primary than destroying the country.
It's about who runs the Democrat Party.
The answer is a man who published a public database of nearly a million homeowners, dismissed the backlash as imaginary, and smirked while Penn called it what it is: a list.
Mark Penn put it plainly – socialism always starts with the promise that only a small group will be targeted.
