Texas Governor Greg Abbott signed one piece of paper that left Democrats madder than hell

Red states are starting to push back against the excesses of the Left.

Conservatives have been waiting for this moment.

And Texas Governor Greg Abbott signed one piece of paper that left Democrats madder than hell.

Governor Abbott pardons Daniel Perry

Governor Abbott officially pardoned Daniel Perry, saying a rogue liberal prosecutor wrongly scored a guilty verdict for murder when Perry acted in self-defense.

Perry was driving an uber on July 25, 2020, when a Black Lives Matter terrorist brandished an AK-47 during one of the violent group’s insurrections in Austin, Texas.

In his statement announcing the pardon, Governor Abbott cited the Lone Star State’s Stand Your Ground law serving as the controlling legal precedent in this matter.

Abbott said the law wasn’t a suggestion left-wing District Attorney’s could ignore at their whim.

“Texas has one of the strongest ‘Stand Your Ground’ laws of self-defense that cannot be nullified by a jury or a progressive District Attorney,” Abbott declared.

Abbott also explained that this pardon went through an exhaustive process and that Perry’s heroic service in the U.S. military, as well as facts of the case, made it an easy call.

“The Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles conducted an exhaustive review of U.S. Army Sergeant Daniel Perry’s personal history and the facts surrounding the July 2020 incident and recommended a Full Pardon and Restoration of Full Civil Rights of Citizenship,” Abbott added.

The facts of the case

Abbotts pardon laid out the details of what happened that night.

Any clear-eyed reading of the facts showed Perry thought his life was in danger from an armed member of a violent militant group.

“WHEREAS, Garrett Foster then approached within 18 inches of Daniel Scott Perry’s car, confronted him, and brandished a Kalashnikov-style rifle in the low-ready firing position; and

WHEREAS, Daniel Scott Perry fired his handgun at Garrett Foster to eliminate a perceived threat to his safety and called law enforcement less than one minute later to inform them of the incident; and

WHEREAS, Daniel Scott Perry explained to law enforcement at the time that he used his weapon because he feared losing his life and has since consistently stated that he acted in self-defense,” the pardon read.

At the time of Perry’s conviction, Tucker Carlson urged Governor Abbott to pardon Perry.

Travis County District Attorney Jose Garza drove the conviction of Perry.

And this case served as a symbol of Soros-backed prosecutors like Garza running amok by weaponizing the justice system to serve a political agenda.

Abbott addressed that concern in his statement, saying Garza pursued this case out of an ideological zeal of “reducing access to guns.”

Liberal prosecutors like Garza called on juries pulled from overwhelmingly liberal pools in places like Austin – one of the blue strongholds in Texas – to carry out their political attacks on disfavored opponents.

But – at least in this instance – Perry lived in a red state where the Governor could right this wrong.
