The Man Who Spent Millions Electing Kamala Harris Just Told Her to Step Aside for AOC

Kamala Harris burned through over $2 billion of Democrat donor money and still lost to Donald Trump.

Now the billionaire who organized her fundraising machine is floating Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez as a better bet for 2028.

And the man who spent millions electing Kamala Harris just told her to step aside for AOC.

The LinkedIn Billionaire Who Built Harris and Is Now Walking Away

Reid Hoffman spent millions – tens of millions – turning Kamala Harris into the Democrat Party's great hope in 2024.

He organized donor calls on her behalf.

He pitched her to Silicon Valley as "a great centrist" who "cares about greater society and cares about business."

He rallied venture capitalists behind her campaign after Biden collapsed.

And when Harris lost, Hoffman reportedly considered leaving the United States entirely.

Now, asked directly whether Harris should try again in 2028, Hoffman called it "a very challenging path" in a field that will be "very noisy."

That's not encouragement.

That's a billionaire with a checkbook telling you to sit down.

What He Actually Said About AOC

Hoffman didn't just pump the brakes on Harris.

He floated Ocasio-Cortez in the same breath – and the contrast is brutal.

When asked about a potential AOC candidacy, Hoffman said: "If you're basically kind of pro-society, which she is, and pro-business, which is a question, that tends to be where I think the right focal points are."

Two years earlier, he used nearly identical language to pitch Harris to those same Silicon Valley donors.

He called Harris "a great centrist" who "cares about a greater society and cares about business."

Now Ocasio-Cortez gets the "pro-society" half of that formula and only a shrug about the business half – and Hoffman is still talking about her as a viable option.

Harris got the full endorsement in 2024, burned $2.5 billion, and lost every swing state.

The donor class is doing math.

Newsom Already Moved the Pieces

This didn't happen in a vacuum.

Days before Hoffman's comments, Gavin Newsom announced he would not run for president in 2028 if Harris entered the race.

Republican strategist Mark Bednar told Fox News Digital exactly what that means.

"The idea of pouring cold water over Kamala for others to step forward seems to be very real," Bednar said.

He described Newsom's statement as "a smoke signal to Democratic donors" – a public signal that insiders need to do the dirty work of pushing Harris out because Newsom won't be the one to say it.

"If you read between the lines, he's signaling to his donors and to his prospective donors, 'Hey, you guys need to do the dirty work to get her out of the race,'" Bednar said.

Newsom covers himself publicly as the gentleman who defers to Harris.

Hoffman covers himself by framing his comments as observations about a "challenging path."

The message to Harris is the same from both of them.

The Party That Never Learns

Here's what nobody on the left wants to say out loud.

The Democrat Party has not nominated a losing presidential candidate for a second shot since Adlai Stevenson lost twice to Dwight Eisenhower – in 1952 and 1956.

That's how badly it went for Stevenson.

The party looked at those results and decided that losing candidates don't get second chances.

Harris spent $2.5 billion and lost in 2024.

A former DNC fundraiser named Lindy Li put it plainly on Fox News: "Kamala Harris is living in fantasyland thinking that big donors would bet on her again. She should just go away because the American people do not want her agenda."

Harris herself told the BBC she is "not done."

She said she has "never listened to polls."

That's exactly the kind of thing a candidate says when the donor class is already done listening to her.

What This Really Tells You About the Left

The Democrat Party spent four years telling you that Harris was brilliant, historic, unstoppable.

They called her opponents sexist and racist.

They raised $2.5 billion for a candidate who couldn't win.

And now the billionaire who organized her fundraising is talking about AOC – a democratic socialist who wants to abolish ICE and raise your taxes – as a more viable option.

That's where the party is.

They didn't learn from Harris losing.

They're now debating whether to go further left with a candidate who openly calls herself a socialist, or stick with a two-time loser who spent a quarter of a trillion dollars failing to beat Donald Trump.

Either way, Trump wins.
