Since Joe Biden named Kamala Harris as his running mate, she has been treated like the President except in name.
That may soon be changing.
And that’s because the military just gave Kamala Harris something that only the President would get.
The Resolute Desk is the ultimate symbol of power in the world.
Queen Victoria gifted the desk to President Rutherford B. Hayes in 1880 and it’s been used by American Presidents ever since.
That’s the desk the President sits behind when making decisions about signing legislation or war and peace.
Now the U.S. Navy just gave Kamala Harris a desk billed as the “equivalent” to the Resolute Desk.
The Washington Examiner reports:
Navy Seabees built a desk for Vice President Kamala Harris made of timber from a historic warship as part of an effort to craft a desk of comparable historical significance to the president’s Resolute desk.
The U.S. Naval Construction Force built the desk using wood from the USS Constitution, the world’s oldest commissioned warship still afloat. The Constitution was first launched in 1797 in Boston as one of the U.S. Navy’s first six frigates.
Harris having her own version of the Resolute Desk would be shocking under another administration.
But this is the first administration to include the Vice President’s name in the title where internal documents refer to the Biden-Harris administration.
Biden also slipped on at least two occasions and called Harris “President Harris”.
It’s a confusing situation that leads many to wonder who is actually in charge and, if it is Joe Biden in charge, how long he plans to stay on as President.
When Biden ran for President he called himself a “transitional figure.”
Now many are wondering when that transition will take place, and if the handover will occur before the 2024 election.
