Joe Biden likes to tell everyone how much of a devout Catholic he is.
But Joe Biden got some bad news.
And that’s because the Pope had one devastating message for Joe Biden that will leave him in ruins.
Pope Benedict XVI passed away at the age of 95 and his funeral became an international event.
But Joe Biden – who never misses a chance to tell everyone how Catholic he is – will not attend.
“The U.S. Ambassador to the Holy See, Joe Donnelly, will represent the United States at the funeral of the Pope, in line with the wishes of the late Pope and the Vatican,” White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre stated. “This is what — this is what their requests were. This is what their wishes were.”
Reporters asked Biden why he would not attend.
Biden flipped out and claimed it was because his security detail was too big.
“Well, why do you think? You tell me,” Biden snapped, adding that “the reason why I’m not attending the funeral tomorrow is that it takes an entourage of 1,000 people, not literally, but we would move everything in the wrong direction.”
“We would just get in the way, but I’ve made my views known,” Biden continued. “Any rate, I think he was a fine man.”
But that may not be the real reason Biden is avoiding Pope Benedict’s funeral.
Biden may want to avoid uncomfortable questions about Pope Benedict’s past comments slamming him for rejecting Church teaching in favor of the Democrat Party’s extremist abortion on demand ideology.
“It’s true, he’s Catholic and observant and personally he is against abortion,” Benedict said of Biden. “But as President, he tends to present himself in continuity with the line of the Democratic Party, and on gender politics we have not yet fully understood what his position is.”
Before Benedict won the Papal Election, the then Cardinal Ratzinger authored a 2004 memo urging priests to deny Holy Communion to pro-abortion politicians like Biden due to the fact they were not in a state of grace because of their support for the taking of innocent unborn life.
Joe Biden may very well be skipping Pope Benedict’s funeral for logistical reasons.
But Biden may also want to avoid the inevitable questions about him claiming to be such a strong Catholic while opposing protecting human life, which was one of the defining causes of Pope Benedict’s life.
