Harvey Weinstein, a Hollywood heavyweight and major Democrat donor stands accused of decades of sexual assault, misconduct, and even several counts of rape.
He produced blockbuster films such as Gangs of New York, Shakespeare in Love, Pulp Fiction, and Good Will Hunting, launching the careers of dozens of Hollywood elites.
And that’s where this story takes a dark turn the media hopes you’ll ignore.
The New Yorker described Weinstein’s actions as “an open secret to many in Hollywood and beyond.”
“Since the establishment of the first studios a century ago, there have been few movie executives as dominant, or as domineering, as Harvey Weinstein.
“His movies have earned more than three hundred Oscar nominations, and, at the annual awards ceremonies, he has been thanked more than almost anyone else in movie history, just after Steven Spielberg and right before God.”
But Weinstein was known well beyond Hollywood.
His connections and access to Democrat politicians would make even the most greasy D.C. lobbyist green with envy.
Business Insider reported that since 2000, Weinstein donated nearly $1 million of his own money to Democrats and bundled over $1.4 million — for at whopping total of $2.3 million — for the groups like the Democrat Senatorial Campaign Committee, the DNC, politicians like Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, John Kerry, and many more including other candidates.
In 2013 Michelle Obama referred to him as a “wonderful human being” and a “good friend.”
The Clintons also counted Weinstein as a friend.
So close, in fact, that in 2015 they rented a house in the Hamptons next to Weinstein for the summer.
It took Clinton five days to issue a carefully crafted statement condemning Weinstein’s actions.
Yet it only took her eight hours to point the finger at the NRA for the Las Vegas shooter’s actions.
And later when interviewed on CNN issued a weak statement that was even slammed by renowned liberals like Anthony Bourdain, who called it “shameful in its deflection and disingenuousness.”
He went on to say “The Weinstein stories had been out there for years,” and said “victims of Mr. Weinstein’s three decades of predatory behavior are disappointed too.” His girlfriend has accused Weinstein of forcibly performing oral sex on her.
That gets to the dark side of the story…
They knew. They all knew.
And yet everyone willfully ignored or covered up his behavior because they were getting something from him.
Actors and actresses were hoping for fame and fearful of “being crushed.”
Democrat politicians were willing to overlook the “rumors” as long as he kept the cash flowing into their coffers.
And worse yet, news outlets have reportedly buried the story for over a decade.
Sharon Waxford, a former New York Times reporter, claims they buried the story back in 2004 “after intense pressure from Weinstein, which included having Matt Damon and Russell Crowe call” her directly.
Even today, NBC refused to run with NBC News correspondent Ronan Farrow’s interviews of Weinstein’s victims and Farrow wound up publishing it in The New Yorker.
NBC News President Noah Oppenheim claimed the report “wasn’t ready for prime-time.”
Fox News speculates that Oppenheim, who is also a screenwriter, may have had ties to Weinstein’s company, though NBC is refusing to comment.
And earlier this week Twitter suspended the account of actress Rose McGowan after she publicly accused Weinstein of raping her on the social media platform.
This entire story just exposes the Hollywood elite and Democrat Party for the massive hypocrites that they are.
They dare to stand there and condemn Trump like Meryl Streep, saying, “When the powerful use their position to bully others, we all lose.”
Yet Meryl Streep once referred to Harvey Weinstein as “god” in an acceptance speech and now claims she didn’t know and that she’s “appalled” by the “disgraceful news.”
The cover up exposes the dark side of Hollywood and the Democrat politicians who considered Weinstein a “friend.”
No one should ever let these hypocrites claim the moral high ground again.
