The Left spent weeks trying to destroy Sophie Cunningham for saying the obvious.
Now one of Hollywood's biggest stars just handed her the most unexpected endorsement of the summer.
And this three-time Golden Globe winner let everyone know where he stands on allowing men to compete in women’s sports.
The British Actor They Can't Cancel
Hugh Laurie is not a MAGA Republican.
The British actor – three-time Golden Globe winner, face of House for eight seasons – built his career in liberal Hollywood.
So when the Left came after Sophie Cunningham for daring to say women shouldn't compete against biological men, nobody expected Hugh Laurie to be the one to plant a flag.
But that's exactly what happened.

Laurie posted on X about the Cunningham controversy on August 9, and Graham Linehan – the British writer who has become one of Europe's most prominent voices against transgender ideology – demanded he stop hedging and pick a side.
"Do you think men should be allowed to compete in women's sports?" Linehan pressed. "Yes or no?"
Laurie didn't hesitate.
"Firstly, f— off," he replied. "Secondly no, I don't believe men should compete against women. I thought I'd made that pretty clear."
Linehan pushed again, calling Laurie's initial post "cowardly" and demanding he directly state his support for Cunningham.
Laurie came back: "And yes, I support Sophie Cunningham."
Four words that sent the left into meltdown.
What Cunningham Actually Said
An ESPN profile published July 21 quoted Cunningham saying she wants to "protect young girls in a locker room, or young girls in sport who shouldn't have to go against biological men."
That's it.
No hate speech.
No attack on anyone.
A woman saying she wants to protect women's sports – and the Left called her a bigot.
Cunningham pushed back immediately.
"I got a lot of negative feedback about me hating trans. And I'm like, 'I never once said that,'" she told ESPN. "I think that I am here to extend love."

The Left didn't want to hear it.
Protests erupted at Fever games across three consecutive road cities.
Lynx head coach Cheryl Reeve wore a "Trans kids belong" shirt on the sideline during a Minnesota home game.
Chicago Sky guard DiJonai Carrington delivered a hard foul on Cunningham, got ejected after video review, then went straight to social media and posted "WHITE PRIVILEGE" tagging the Fever.
They made it personal.
The Numbers the Left Won't Mention
Vice President JD Vance went on Fox News and told Cunningham to "keep speaking your mind."
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt called the backlash "ludicrous."
"Men should not be playing in women's sports," Leavitt said. "It's completely ludicrous that anyone could support that."
And here's what the left calls an extremist fringe position: 79% of Americans – according to a New York Times poll from March 2025 – believe biological men should be barred from competing in women's sports.
Seventy-nine percent.

That's not a fringe.
That's the entire country minus the loudest people on social media.
This Is What Courage Costs in 2026
Hugh Laurie doesn't need this fight.
He's 67 years old, British, and has nothing to gain from wading into American culture wars.
But he watched a WNBA player get torn apart for saying women deserve fair sports – and he decided to say something.
Cunningham didn't flinch when reporters pressed her after the controversy exploded.
"I said what I said," she fired back.
Vance put it best on Fox News: "Sometimes when you're courageous in this country, the worst people in the world will try to attack you."
He called courage contagious.
Hugh Laurie just proved it.
