A Colombian woman wore an "I Voted" sticker while committing identity theft in the 2024 election.
Now a Biden-appointed judge born in Trinidad and Tobago is standing between Trump and the tool that finds people like her.
And the Supreme Court gets to decide after a Joe Biden-appointed judge blocked Donald Trump from cleaning up the voter rolls.
What the SAVE Program Actually Does
The Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements program has existed since 2005.
States have used it for two decades to check whether people receiving government benefits are actually eligible to receive them.
In 2025, Trump's team at USCIS upgraded it.
The upgrade let states run their entire voter rolls through the database – checking names, birthdates, and Social Security data against federal citizenship records.
By November 2025, states had already submitted over 46 million voter verification queries using the updated system.

Texas ran all 18 million of its registered voters through the database and found 2,724 suspected noncitizens.
North Carolina signed a formal agreement with USCIS to do the same.
Then Biden's judges got involved.
The 50-48 Vote That Killed Voter Verification
On June 22, 2026, Judge Sparkle Sooknanan – confirmed to the D.C. District Court by a 50-48 party-line vote in December 2024 – issued a 75-page ruling that vacated the entire upgraded SAVE system.
She ruled that combining Social Security data with citizenship records violated the Privacy Act, the Social Security Act, and the Administrative Procedure Act.
"The federal government has knowingly trampled on the privacy rights of American citizens in a manner that threatens the sacred right to vote," Sooknanan wrote.
The D.C. Circuit, in a 2-1 decision, refused to pause her ruling while the appeal proceeded.
The dissenting judge – Trump appointee Gregory Katsas – said the government was likely to win, that Sooknanan's order conflicted with a separate Florida federal ruling, and that any voters at risk of removal "simply have to provide proof of citizenship."
That brings us to Tuesday, when Solicitor General John Sauer walked into the Supreme Court with a simple argument: this ruling is "indefensible."
What Democrats Are Actually Protecting
Two dozen noncitizen voting arrests, prosecutions, or convictions in 2026 alone – with another 90 cases under active investigation.
That's what Democrats are fighting to prevent anyone from finding.

A Filipino woman in Hawaii was charged with illegally voting in 2022 and again in a 2024 primary.
Two Pakistani men in New Jersey were indicted for fraudulent voting in a federal election.
A Chinese student at the University of Michigan surrendered after allegedly registering and voting in the 2024 general election.
In Florida, three noncitizens – from Cuba, Haiti, and Brazil – admitted to knowingly casting ballots in federal elections.
And a Colombian woman in Massachusetts was convicted of identity theft, passport fraud, and illegal voting in the 2024 presidential election – caught on surveillance footage wearing her "I Voted" sticker.
Why SCOTUS Matters Before November
The 2026 midterms are weeks away.
That's not a coincidence.
According to Sauer's filing, Sooknanan's ruling shut down the federal government's ability to internally use Social Security data when verifying voter eligibility for any state that asked.
He told the Supreme Court that the order "threatens the integrity of upcoming elections" by stripping away the government's only efficient tool for the job.

With the D.C. Circuit already refusing to pause the ruling, SCOTUS is the last stop before Election Day.
The only question is whether the justices act in time – or whether Biden's judges run out the clock.
Democrats spent years telling you noncitizen voting is a conspiracy theory.
They are now in federal court making sure the check never happens before you vote.
