Maine's governor told ICE agents to their faces she would not help them stay alive.
Now the Justice Department has her answer – and it came with a lawsuit.
What Democrats built across 32 states to stop Trump's deportation mandate is something most Americans have no idea exists.
What Democrats Actually Put in These Bills
The bills aren't vague protest statements.
They're operational sabotage.
Blue-state Democrats introduced 242 pieces of legislation across 32 states targeting the specific tools ICE uses to arrest criminals.
Ban the masks federal agents wear for their safety.
Block undercover license plates so cartel members can track ICE vehicles in real time.
Prohibit ICE from using government-owned facilities.
Block new detention centers from being built.

That's not immigration policy.
That's a protection racket for people who shouldn't be here.
Maine's Governor Janet Mills didn't hide the goal when the DOJ sued her state in May.
She said "covert civil immigration enforcement is not something Maine will facilitate."
Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche had a direct answer: these governors are "pursuing discriminatory and obstructionist policies against federal law enforcement" – and their actions "allow dangerous criminals to escape justice."
He's right.
Without undercover plates, cartel scouts outside detention facilities can photograph every federal vehicle and warn members before a raid.
Democrats wrote that into law.
Biden's Judges Are Running the Same Play
The bills are only half the operation.
Pro-amnesty groups have flooded federal courts with 20,000 lawsuits designed to bury ICE in paperwork until Trump's term runs out.
DHS General Counsel James Percival explained the strategy plainly: "They know if they can just get enough crazy district judges to do enough crazy things, they can run out the clock. That's the strategy."
The math on the judges makes it obvious this isn't random.
Obama-appointed judges ruled against ICE detention in 95 percent of 4,360 cases.
Biden's judges sided against ICE in 92 percent of 5,914 cases.
Reagan and Trump judges backed ICE at rates between 34 and 36 percent.

Those numbers don't happen by accident.
When a judge rules against the government in 95 out of 100 cases, that judge isn't applying the law – he's running interference.
Andrew Jackson faced something similar in 1832 when South Carolina tried to declare federal law null and void inside state borders.
Jackson called it treason and crushed it.
He understood that one state deciding which federal laws apply within its borders isn't federalism – it's the unraveling of the republic.
What Democrats are doing now is the same play with better lawyers and a more sympathetic press.
The Clock Is the Whole Point
Here's what Democrats figured out: they don't have to win in court.
They just have to slow ICE down long enough to matter.
Every state bill that passes forces a federal lawsuit.
Every lawsuit buys months of delay.
Every friendly judge who issues an injunction buys more months.
Stack 20,000 lawsuits on top of 53 state laws and you don't need to beat Trump at the ballot box – you need to run out the four years he has.
Some Democrat governors have even vetoed their own party's bills, not because they oppose the goal, but because they worried the laws were so aggressive they'd lose in court too fast.
They're not playing defense.
They're playing offense with a longer time horizon.

The Heritage Foundation noted years ago that sanctuary policies seek to "frustrate effectuation" of immigration law – the legal term for making enforcement practically impossible without technically blocking it.
That's exactly what this legislative avalanche is designed to do.
ICE agents are still out there every day, working with unmasked faces and identifiable vehicles, knowing that in Oregon, Maine, Massachusetts, and Washington, the state government is actively helping dangerous people track them.
They're doing the job anyway.
The question is whether the courts, the DOJ, and the administration can dismantle this legal obstruction machine before January 2029.
Democrats are betting they can't – and they built a machine specifically designed to prove it.
