Trey Gowdy just started a new show at Fox News.
But many Republicans want to know if the former Congressman will run for office again.
Now Trey Gowdy just made one prediction about his future that will leave you speechless.
Gowdy’s new show “Sunday Night in America with Trey Gowdy” premiered this past Sunday.
The former South Carolina Congressman promised a different type of show that will be free from the ideological echo chambers on many cable news shows like those MSNBC and CNN air almost exclusively.
“I don’t like it, and neither does the audience,” Gowdy told The Hill in an exclusive interview.
Gowdy conceded that it would be difficult to book Democrat guests on his show.
“I’m something at the mercy of who is willing to come on the show,” Gowdy also told The Hill. “It’s a tough time in politics. There is very little upside for Republicans to go on CNN and MSNBC, and it’s the same for Democrats going on other shows.”
But Gowdy did say he hoped he could attract a broad array of guests from across the ideological spectrum by holding longer form interviews.
“I’ve never been a fan of artificial time limits in Congress where you hear, ‘The gentleman’s five minutes are up,’” Gowdy continued. “Five minutes is not enough time to unlock the mysteries of the world.”
At the close of the interview, the former Congressman revealed whether he would ever return to elected office. It looks virtually impossible as Gowdy promised he’d never put himself before voters again.
“You will never see me on a ballot again,” Gowdy declared. “I wasn’t good at it, and I didn’t enjoy it.”
Gowdy’s new Sunday night show is part of Fox’s effort to shake up their lineup after falling to last place in the cable news ratings chase back in January.
Fox saw a significant chunk of viewers desert the network for alternatives like One America News and Newsmax.
Adding popular figures like Gowdy helped Fox climb back to first place in short order.
