Former South Carolina Congressman Trey Gowdy is a regular contributor on Fox News.
After retiring from Congress, Gowdy built a fan base on Fox by pointing out all the corruption and misdeeds during this Mueller investigation and subsequent impeachment hoax.
But now Trey Gowdy stunned Fox News viewers with this attack on Donald Trump.
Gowdy appeared on Fox News’ Outnumbered Overtime where he offered his thoughts on Donald Trump’s new “law and order” campaign theme.
The President wants to contrast Democrats who support mobs in the streets rioting and tearing down statues while demanding politicians defund the police with his support for law enforcement to keep the peace and protect civil society.
Gowdy cautioned against this rhetoric complaining that some black Americans could see it as racist.
“The other thing I would say is Republicans need to embrace law as a unifying, equalizing force,” Gowdy explained “When I hear ‘law and order,’ I think it means something different to a white person than a person of color, but the law should be equalizing and unifying.”
Gowdy then echoed Black Lives Matter talking points claiming America’s justice system was racist.
“So when we talk about law and that we’re a country of laws and not men and women, I think we need to do it in a more persuasive way, to see that it could be empowering for minority communities,” Gowdy added that Republicans should “admit our justice system could use some tweaking, whether it’s the ratio between cocaine base and cocaine powder, or access to diversion programs, there are legitimate arguments that it has had a disproportionately negative impact on communities of color.”
Republicans consistently lost elections because they followed advice like Trey Gowdy and accepted the Left’s terms of debate.
Donald Trump won in 2016 because he refused to play by those rules.
The President will not win a second term in 2020 if he abandons the playbook that won him the White House in the first place.
