Why are NFL owners tolerating anti-American protests?
Disgusted NFL fans have been puzzled by this question.
But Donald Trump just revealed the sickening reason the NFL permits players to trash the memories of dead veterans.
Trump said in an interview on Fox and Friends that the owners are scared of their players.
“NFL team owners are hesitant to stop their players from kneeling in protest during the national anthem because “they’re afraid of their players,” President Donald Trump said Wednesday, insisting that they should ban the practice for the entire league.
“I have so many friends that are owners. And they’re in a box. I mean, I’ve spoken to a couple of them. They say, ‘We are in a situation where we have to do something,’” Trump said in an interview with Fox News’ “Fox & Friends” that was taped Wednesday and aired Thursday morning. “I think they’re afraid of their players, you want to know the truth, and I think it’s disgraceful. And they’ve got to be tough and they’ve got to be smart.”
Owners are afraid if they cracked down on the protests they would have a full-scale revolt on their hands.
But the public is with Trump.
Polls show overwhelming majorities of Americans support standing for the anthem.
If the league mandated all players must stand for the anthem and players refused to show up for games or went on strike the public backlash would destroy the protesters forever.
The owners aren’t willing to take that risk.
They are more afraid of their players than the fans.
NFL owners could be making a gigantic mistake.
Ratings are down 11 percent this year.
And the ticket reseller StubHub is offering a ten percent across the board discount on tickets for this week’s games.
If ratings continue to plummet and fans stay home on Sundays, NFL owners will have more than their players to fear.
