Congress passed a 4,000-page, $1.7 trillion omnibus spending bill to fund the federal government through next September.
The bill was chalked full of wasteful left-wing spending at a time when the country is grappling with rampant inflation caused by runaway government spending.
During an appearance on Fox News, Tulsi Gabbard ripped Senate Democrats and RINOs who completely ignored border security in the omnibus bill.
Gabbard, who left the Democrat Party over its left-wing drift, said the top priority of the federal government was to protect the country.
“What’s at the heart of this is we have Democrats and Republicans, frankly, in Congress who are failing at their most basic and foremost responsibility, which is to ensure the safety, security, and freedom of the American people, and that starts with securing our border,” Gabbard explained.
Conservatives were pushing for a short-term government funding bill to give the incoming GOP House an ability to fight for border security in the budget process early next year.
“We don’t have a country if we don’t have a secure border,” Gabbard said.
“Well, there’s about $1.5 billion there that’s been set aside for Customs and Border Protection, border security,” Gabbard continued. “The problem is the language also says they’re not actually allowed to use any of that money to secure the border.”
Although increased funding for the Border Patrol was included in the bill, it was prohibited from being used for border security.
Instead, it was earmarked for helping the Border Patrol process the record number of illegal aliens invading the country.
Gabbard said that lawmakers who voted for the omnibus bill are either incompetent or don’t care about border security.
“Either way, they’re failing at their jobs,” Gabbard said. “They either need to step up to the plate and do their job, or they need to be replaced.”
While Congress is ignoring the country’s border, it showered foreign countries like Egypt with millions of dollars to help secure their borders in the omnibus bill.
“As we see in this $1.7 trillion bill, they’re sending hundreds of millions of dollars to secure other countries’ borders,” Gabbard said. “They’re spending an incredible amount of money to feed into the military-industrial complex, but not willing to do what is necessary to secure our own border and support the needs of the American people right here at home.”
Gabbard ripped politicians who claim that the border is secure by explaining that the current crisis is proof to the contrary.
