Donald Trump ran as a political outsider and won the 2016 election.
Now left-wing celebrities think they can be the ones who take him out in 2020.
And you won’t believe which big shot is talking about throwing her hat in the ring.
Oprah Winfrey’s TV show is usually a destination for Presidential candidates.
Now it might launch her own campaign.
She was interviewed by Bloomberg News and told the outlet that Trump’s victory prompted her to consider a run.
The Daily Mail reports:
“The improbable political rise of Donald Trump has led Oprah Winfrey to think about whether or not she could become the second TV entertainer to work in the Oval Office.
Oprah told Bloomberg interviewer David Rubenstein that before Trump won the November election, she thought she was unqualified to be president.
But not anymore.
‘I actually never thought that that was – I never considered the question, even a possibility,’ she said.
But when reality-show icon Trump beat longtime politician Hillary Clinton, she said, ‘I just thought, “Oh! Oh!”‘
‘I thought, “Oh, gee, I don’t have experience. I don’t know enough. I don’t.”
‘And now I’m thinking, “Oh! Oh!”‘
Oprah would be the first woman president if she were to leverage her near-universal name ID and nationwide support to match Trump’s political lightning moment.”
The Democratic field promises to be crowded.
Multiple senators and Governors are expected to seek the nomination.
And other CEO’s and celebrities have discussed bids.
Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban floated the idea of running.
And Disney CEO Bob Iger has reportedly talked about running for President.
But Oprah would be the biggest name in the field.
Oprah’s $3 billion net worth would allow her to finance a primary campaign and her legions of followers from her 25 years on TV would allow her to create a small donor base to match Trump.
And as a Democratic celebrity, she would have access to virtually unlimited money from Hollywood and Wall Street.
Will she run?
Conservative media maven Matt Drudge says Oprah vs. Trump would be the election of a lifetime.
