Yellowstone star Cole Hauser gave fans this big update about the show’s future

Yellowstone is set to wrap up its fifth and final season later this year.

But much of the show’s future is still shrouded in mystery.

And Yellowstone star Cole Hauser gave fans this big update about the show’s future.

Yellowstone set to conclude this fall

Yellowstone’s last episode aired on January 1, 2023, to conclude the first half of season five.

The final half of season five’s episodes are set to begin airing this November on the Paramount Network and conclude the saga of this generation of the Dutton family.

Star Kevin Costner’s potential to return as John Dutton for the conclusion is still a mystery, but Cole Hauser, who plays Rip Wheeler on the show, gave an update about where things are with the beloved series.

Hauser posted a picture on social media of him with fellow Yellowstone co-stars Denim Richards and Jefferson White, who play ranch hands Colby Mayfield and Jimmy Hurdstram respectively.

“Found this old pic of my boys [Denim Richards] [Jefferson White]. See y’all soon!” Hauser wrote.

Richards replied with the comment, “This is epic,” followed by a couple of fire emojis.

Yellowstone star gives fans an update on the final season

Yellowstone co-stars Lainey Wilson and Kelly Reilly previously said that they had no idea when the show was scheduled to begin shooting again.

With Costner’s status up in the air and no firm start date, it was possible the final half of season five could be delayed into 2025.

But Hauser gave fans some concrete information on when the cameras are set to start rolling on the final episodes of Yellowstone.

“My intention is to make sure we finish Yellowstone strong, you know,” Hauser told Whiskey Riff. “This is the last season of that. I start in about 3 weeks. I just want to make sure that Taylor, Kelly, Luke, Wes, myself, everybody that has been a part of this show that we just end it. That is probably my focus, but there’s a ton of other stuff going that I’m excited about.”

That would mean filming resumes in May, which would make it likely that the series would return at its scheduled November start date.

Now that the final episodes have a start date, the biggest mystery remaining for Yellowstone is what, if any, role Costner has in its conclusion.

Despite rumors that he clashed with the show’s co-creator, Taylor Sheridan, over pay and scheduling, he said he was open to returning to wrap up the story arc for his character.

“I’d like to be able to do it but we haven’t been able to,” Costner told Entertainment Tonight. . . I thought I was going to make seven [seasons] but right now we’re at five. So how it works out — I hope it does — but they’ve got a lot of different shows going on. Maybe it will. Maybe this will circle back to me. If it does and I feel really comfortable with [it], I’d love to do it.”

And he’s thought about how his character should conclude his story.

“Well, you know, he needs to be proactive in what happens and I’ve kind of had my own fantasy how it might be,” Costner said. “But that’s Taylor’s thing. I said as much to him a while back. I had thoughts how it could happen, but we just have to see.”

Kevin Costner’s potential involvement will loom large as Yellowstone gets set to begin production on its final episodes.
