Americans could not believe what they were watching at the Academy Awards.
It was a scene that made headlines around the world.
And you won’t believe what one top Democrat said about Will Smith slapping Chris Rock.
When comedian Chris Rock was presenting the Academy Award for best documentary film, he pointed at Jada Pinkett Smith, the wife of superstar actor Will Smith, and said ,“Jada, I love ya. G.I. Jane 2, can’t wait to see it.”
Jada Pinkett Smith suffers from alopecia, a condition that makes women lose their hair.
G.I. Jane was a 1997 film where Demi Moore shaved her head bald for her role as a female soldier.
This enraged Will Smith, who stomped on the stage and smacked Rock right across the face.
Smith returned to his seat and profanely shouted at Rock to never mention his wife’s name again.

“Squad” member Ayanna Pressley – who also suffers from alopecia – tweeted her support for Will Smith assaulting Rock.
“#Alopecia nation stand up!” Pressley wrote. “Thank you #WillSmith Shout out to all the husbands who defend their wives living with alopecia in the face of daily ignorance & insults.”
“Women with baldness are for the real men only only [sic],” Pressley continued. “Boys need not apply.”
After it quickly dawned on Pressley that she just cheered on a criminal assault, she deleted the tweet.
Smith later won the award for best actor for his portrayal of Richard Williams – the father of tennis stars Venus and Serena Williams – in the film King Richard.
In his acceptance speech, Smith apologized to the Academy and his fellow nominees – but pointedly not to Chris Rock – for slapping him in the face.
“I wanna apologize to the Academy. I wanna apologize to all my fellow nominees,” Smith told the audience. “This is a beautiful moment and I’m not crying for winning an award. It’s not about winning an award for me, it’s about being able to shine light on all of the people.”
“Love will make you do crazy things,” Smith stated.
