The DSA just toppled a 30-year Democrat incumbent in Denver.
Joe Scarborough went on live television that same week and called the DSA a "radical fringe group."
He didn't do it to defend conservatives – he did it to cover for the socialists marching straight through his own party.
Scarborough's Trick and Why It Falls Apart Instantly
The setup was simple.
The Commerce Department announced it signed letters of intent to invest $874 million in seven semiconductor companies under the CHIPS Act – taking minority equity stakes in return.
Scarborough pounced, calling it "pre-Thatcher style socialism" and insisting Republicans are the real radicals.

His goal was to run out the clock on a conversation he desperately doesn't want to have.
The DSA Isn't Fringe Anymore and Scarborough Knows It
While Scarborough was calling the DSA a "radical fringe group," DSA-backed candidates were defeating entrenched Democrat incumbents across the country.
Melat Kiros – 29 years old, openly democratic socialist – knocked out Diana DeGette in Denver, a Democrat who had held that seat since 1997.
DSA candidates also won House primaries in New York, Colorado, and Pennsylvania.
Down-ballot, they flipped seats in Oregon, Georgia, Kentucky, and New York state legislature.
Zohran Mamdani – a card-carrying DSA member who wants to abolish ICE and replace capitalism with socialism – is the mayor of New York City.
The DSA's national co-chair went on Fox News Sunday and said, on camera, she supports abolishing the Senate, abolishing ICE, abolishing borders entirely, and replacing the presidency and Supreme Court as currently structured.
That's the "fringe group" Scarborough dismissed in the same breath he accused Republicans of socialism.
Scarborough Covered for These People and Now He Needs You to Forget That
Scarborough spent months defending DSA-aligned candidates – including Graham Platner, who had to be dropped when his controversies became public, and Darializa Avila Chevalier, who he covered for until he couldn't anymore.

Now, with socialists winning primaries and their leaders openly targeting the White House in 2028, he's raising the CHIPS Act because he needs you looking somewhere else – not because he suddenly developed a passion for free markets.
The DSA Is Not Fringe – It's the Future of the Democrat Party
The DSA isn't a protest movement anymore.
It's a pipeline.
They held two House seats a year ago and are now tracking toward five or more after this primary cycle alone.
Their leaders are openly discussing a 2028 presidential run.
They want to abolish the Senate, the presidency as currently structured, and the Supreme Court.
They said so on Fox News with a smile.
But calling it what it is means admitting the Democrat Party has a socialism problem so serious that candidates who want to abolish borders are winning competitive primaries.
So instead Scarborough waved his hands at the CHIPS Act, called Republicans the real socialists, and hoped nobody noticed the wave of socialist Democrats headed to Washington.
“This is socialism,” he said. “This is pre-Thatcher style socialism, and the great irony, here you have Republicans, small government Republicans running up the biggest deficits, the biggest debt ever, crippling this country.”

“They're going to cripple this generation with the biggest budgets ever, the biggest spending ever, the biggest socialized schemes ever,” he continued.
“They practice socialism with Intel, then they practice socialism by forcing other companies to do business with the federal government, or else they're going to get cut out,” Scarborough added.
This is how the media buries a story it helped create – not by defending it, but by flooding the zone with something louder until you forget what you were watching.
Scarborough spent months building the runway for these candidates.
Now they've taken off and he's pointing at the tarmac.
Your job is to notice.
