California is a disaster with a $68 billion deficit, record homelessness, and more residents leaving every year than any other state.
Gavin Newsom went on Jimmy Kimmel Wednesday night to tell America it doesn't matter.
Gavin Newsom made one prediction about Donald Trump’s Presidency that he will live to regret.
The Guy Who Wrecked California Is Now Predicting the Future
Let that track record sink in for a moment.
The man who turned the Golden State into a cautionary tale – $68 billion in debt, Medicaid handed out to illegal immigrants, citizens fleeing by the hundreds of thousands – is now your political prophet.
On Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Newsom declared the House of Representatives "a fait accompli" for Democrats.

He said the only real question is whether Democrats take the Senate.
He cited early voting numbers.
He invoked the Founding Fathers.
He promised a margin big enough that Trump "cannot contest those races."
What he didn't mention is that Democrats have made this exact promise before – and been humiliated by reality.
In 2022, Michael Moore predicted a "blue tsunami."
Democrats got a ripple.
Republicans won the House.
The lesson Democrats learned from that humiliation?
Apparently nothing, because here comes Newsom on late-night television making the same promise with the same confidence.
What Newsom Actually Revealed on Kimmel
Strip away the bravado and Newsom gave away more than he intended Wednesday night.
He admitted his relationship with Trump has fundamentally changed.
"In Trump 1.0, I probably talked to him every single week," Newsom said.
Now? Radio silence.
He admitted Democrats need to get "more ruthless."

"He's not screwing around," Newsom said of Trump. "There's a ruthlessness of Donald Trump. So, again, with love and respect to my party, the Democratic Party, for things to change, we need to change."
A sitting governor going on late-night television to tell his own party it needs to fundamentally transform itself – six days before an election he's calling a "fait accompli" – isn't confidence.
It's panic dressed up as a pep rally.
The Man Who Wants to Be President Has a Record Problem
Here's what Newsom won't say on Kimmel or anywhere else.
Even his own party is asking him to explain himself.
A prominent South Carolina Democrat told Fox News that Newsom needs to explain his "many failures in California" before running for president.
"I just think he's going to have a tough time explaining why there's so many failures in California," that Democrat said.
That's a member of his own party saying the quiet part out loud.
Fellow California Democrats debating the governor's race this year hammered homelessness, sky-high housing costs, and a social safety net that collapsed under the weight of Newsom's priorities.
The man is term-limited out of Sacramento in January 2027.
He's already campaigning in South Carolina.
He's already selling "Gavin 2028" buttons at his events.
Wednesday night on Kimmel was never really about the midterms.
It was a presidential audition – and the audience watching knows it.
Democrats Have Made This Exact Promise Before
In 2018, Democrats predicted a blue wave – and got one.
They spent the next four years proving they had no idea what to do with it.
In 2022 they promised another one – and got a ripple.
Democrats got so cocky about that near-miss that they convinced themselves they didn't need to change anything heading into 2024.
Then Trump won in a landslide.
Newsom watched all of it from Sacramento.

He saw Democrats lose working-class voters they'd held for fifty years.
He saw his party lose the Latino vote.
He watched Kamala Harris – his own state's former vice president – get crushed by a man they'd spent a decade calling an existential threat to democracy.
And his takeaway from all of it is to go on Jimmy Kimmel and promise a blue tsunami.
Here's what Democrats never learn: the voters who decide these elections don't watch Jimmy Kimmel.
They don't care what Gavin Newsom said to Jimmy Kimmel.
They care whether their groceries cost less than they did two years ago.
They care whether their neighborhood is safer.
They care whether the border is under control.
On every one of those questions, Trump has an answer and Democrats have a late-night television appearance.
Newsom can promise all the tsunamis he wants.
But on Tuesday, reality votes.
