RFK Jr Blamed Jimmy Kimmel for Destroying Liberal Comedy and Kimmel Proved Him Right

Jimmy Kimmel told a man in 2021 that he deserved to die in a hospital because he took the wrong medicine.

RFK Jr. just named him Patient Zero for the collapse of late-night TV.

And Kimmel's response proved Kennedy was right about every word of it.

The Priest Who Forgot the Punchline

Kennedy shared a satirical thread on social media describing it as the best explanation for what destroyed liberal comedy.

"He was hired as a comedian but he made himself a priest," RFK Jr. wrote.

A reasonable person would have a reasonable response to that.

Kimmel spotted a typo in Kennedy's post and went after the spelling error instead.

"It's 'nadir' dummy," Kimmel fired back. "Now get back to spreading polio."

No joke. No self-awareness. No acknowledgment that a sitting cabinet secretary might deserve an actual answer.

Just a spelling correction and a charge that Kennedy is killing children.

This is what late-night comedy sounds like in 2026.

The Diagnosis Kennedy Made in 2023

Kennedy saw this coming three years ago.

Appearing on The Joe Rogan Experience in 2023, he called out Colbert, Stewart, and the entire class of late-night hosts who spent the COVID years shaming anyone who asked questions.

"I thought they stopped being funny because comedians are funny when they're ridiculing authority," Kennedy said, "and they all had to stop doing that."

He was exactly right.

Johnny Carson made presidents nervous.

Jay Leno went after Clinton, Bush, and Obama with equal contempt.

When late-night decided it had a side to defend, it stopped being comedy and became propaganda with a laugh track.

Kimmel's 2021 monologue removed all doubt about where he stood.

"Vaccinated person having a heart attack? Yes, come right in. We'll take care of you," Kimmel said. "Unvaccinated guy who gobbled horse goo? Rest in peace, wheezy."

He was suggesting hospitals deny care to Americans based on their medical choices.

He said it like it was funny.

It wasn't funny.

It was a priest condemning sinners – and half of America heard it, turned the channel, and never came back.

What Happened After the Audience Left

The ratings told the story Kimmel refused to hear.

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert was bleeding $40 million a year by the time CBS canceled it.

Greg Gutfeld was drawing 3.73 million viewers nightly on cable without a single broadcast network advantage.

Ninety-two percent of political jokes in late-night targeted conservatives last year.

Half of America wasn't being represented. Half of America stopped watching.

Kimmel's own position grew shakier by the month.

In April 2026, days before a gunman attempted to assassinate President Trump at the White House Correspondents' Dinner, Kimmel used his monologue to describe Melania Trump as an "expectant widow."

The First Lady responded directly.

"Kimmel's hateful and violent rhetoric is intended to divide our country," Melania wrote. "His monologue about my family isn't comedy – his words are corrosive and deepens the political sickness within America."

"Kimmel hides behind ABC," she added, "because he knows the network will keep running cover to protect him."

A comedian who needs a network to hide behind isn't a comedian.

He's exactly what Kennedy said he is.

The Difference Between Comedy and Church

Great comedy punches up – at power, at institutions, at whoever thinks they're too important to be mocked.

Kimmel used to understand that.

The Man Show was vulgar, irreverent, and consistently funny precisely because he didn't care who he offended.

Then he decided he cared deeply about offending the right people.

He stopped punching up at the powerful and started punching down at farmers who took ivermectin, at Americans who asked questions Kimmel had decided were forbidden.

The audiences who left weren't confused about what they were watching.

They knew exactly what it was.

When RFK Jr. – now the second-highest health official in the United States government – raised the same questions Kimmel spent years mocking, Kimmel's entire response was a spelling correction and a polio joke.

That's not a comedian losing an argument.

That's a priest refusing to have one.

Jimmy Kimmel just proved he's been the priest all along.
